even though i have since bought a 50d i still take this on shoots. I will stick my 10-22 on the 20 so I can grab it at a moment notice and be ready to snap a photo. I will use the 20D alot of times in lower light situations. I have thought about selling it more than once but can't do it, maybe if i get a 5d mark 11

I have owned the 20d for more than 2 years. Within these years I have familiarized myself with the EF lens system, and the capabilities and limits of the 20d. This camera system because of its 1.6 crop shows only the best of all EF lenses. I strongly recommend the xxd system to any hobby photographer who has a desire to learn how to edit in RAW with photoshop or lightroom; shoot in Manual or Aperture modes.
This camera with the right lenses can produce wonderful images. Its speed and frame rates make it an excellent sports camera. Its sensor size makes it a must for wildlife photography (extending the mm range of a lens.) With the right lenses and its in camera noise reduction the 20d makes night and astro-photography images crisp and sharp. The 20d is a very well rounded camera.

I have had this camera for about 4 years.
Simply the easiest to use, if you are lazy and don't want to learn all the manuel setting.
Great action shots of the kids. Beautiful portrait shots. I have now invested more in other lens, that the cost of the camera.
Still one of the best investments I have made.

Three years ago I set up the 20D in an Ikelite housing with twin 125D strobes, a real first class U/W system. I have traveled around the world with this system and been happy with the quality of the photos and the ease of setup.
The preset functions have allowed me to configure the camera for typical conditions encountered underwater. These configurations have resulted in some great photos under extreme situations. The synchronization functions used with the strobes has worked well with the macro zoom and 100 mm macro lens I use and have resulted in well lit shots during night dives and low light conditions.
Overall the system is easy to use and the results have been outstanding.

I bought the first 20D in early 2005 and now use three with a huge assortment of EOS lenses. The program card in one got fried but not because of the camera itself, had a bad EF 17-85 that that jamed up between 17-30 mm and over drove the camera software.
It fast, and if you take the time to get into the mini instructions book will produce the quality images we all seek.
I still have a problem with it not being able to lock on focus in no light in auto or program mode? I just went to manual and its fine. You can push it easily to 1600 asa for improved image stabilization :)
I am more challenged with the canon 380 flash system but that is probably more lazy then problem ... Lots of functions that need an indepth study to master ... all in due time :)

I have owned my 20D for over 3 years. I have since purchased a 30D and now a 1D Mark III. I still keep my 20D for a backup and my wife also uses it to shoot while I am using the 30D and 1D. It is a great performer and a very solid camera. Doesn't have the options that the more expensive cameras do but that is why it costs less.

I have owned 5 Canon SLR film cameras and I loved all of them. I waited to get a DSLR camera until the 20D came out. The love the feel and quality of the camera but every picture I take is soft focus. I have sent the camera in for repair and was told that this model just takes soft images and that I need to import all my images into a photo editing software to sharpen them. I'm not happy with this camera.

The 8GB MAXIMUM CF-card capacity is undocumented but verified through Canon customer support. You can load a bigger card, but when you format it, it will have its partition table re-written to 8GB. Disappointing.
Body is excellent, the plastic-housing 'kit' lenses rattle although image quality is excellent.
Overall I'm quite pleased but I am still hoping a future firmware update will remove the artificially limiting 8GB capacity. (I am using the latest currently available, 2.0.3)

I have been using this puppy since late 2005 and it hasn't let me down yet. It is rugged and sturdy and that gives me confidence to use it any place any time. It was the first DSLR on the market that incorporated enough features to make me switch from film to digital. The only thing that I find really lacking is the absence of a true spot metering system. The 20D spot meter covers too much area of the view finder.
That being said, this is a great all-round camera backed up by an extensive lens and accessory line from Canon and third party manufacturers.

Excellent camera, controlls are very easy to get to and use. You are not scrolling through a lot of menu options to adjust for manual shots. Very durable, not that I would reccomend testing this, but it has stood up to a few accidental drops and still been fine. Picture quality is excellent (granted a good portion of this is attributed to the quality of the lens you put on it.
I have a 10d and this 20d. The 10d takes great pictures, but the 20d has superior electronics and controls. If you have a chance to buy one get it. Not trying to knock canon's new camera sales, but I would get a used 10d, or 20d before I got a new rebel (the controls and electronics of the consumer grade cameras just doesn't measure up.)

Been using the 20D since January of 2005, it has been a WorkHorse and done a great job. Canon Lens: EF-S 17-55 2.8 IS USM, EF24-70mm F-2.8L USM, and the EF70-200mm F-2.8L IS USM.
