Pros: Good Low-Light Performance, Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, durable, Bright LCD, Lightweight/Portable, Simple controls/menu, easy to use
Cons: Short battery life, lens cover doesn't always open
Bought this camera several years ago and it has proved to be rugged and consistent. Only problem is that the lens cover frequently does not open completely. Must be a design/mfg problem as my brother's A510 (complete coincidence that he had bought the identical model) has the same issue. It's easy to remedy just by flicking the lens cover with a finger but if using the viewfinder you won't see that it's partially open.

Review 2 for PowerShot A510
Location: San Diego, Ca
Used this product for: more than 1 year
Expertise Level: Advanced Amateur
Product replacement: Yes
Date:May 19, 2009
Pros: easy to use, Simple controls/menu, Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, Good Low-Light Performance, Lightweight/Portable, good battery life, durable, full manual setting, edit video clips
Cons: 30 sec 640x480 video
I got my hands on the A510 thanks to a trade. My grandmother bought it, and she thought it was too complicated for her. She saw the camera I had at the time and liked it, so we traded. Both were 3.2Mp cameras but the A510 has a bigger lens, more zoom, bigger screen, and best of all the full manual settings that I've grown to love. It is simple, yet it has alot of features that let you take pictures like a pro. It take good pictures despite being only 3.2Mp camera, very nice pictures even with poor lighting(full manual setting), and it takes ok video, but only 30sec in 640X480 mode. I've had it for a couple of years, have taken thousands of photos, and can clearly say that the camera is very rouged. The paint on the camera is tarting to fade in some areas, but it still looks good for a 4 or 5 year old camera. I would highly recomend this camera or the new A-series cameras to anyone.
