Nice Camera
Date: March 19, 2009
Pros: Simple controls/menu, Nice features/settings, quiet, Quick Start-up time, Solid Operation, easy to use, Lightweight/Portable, good battery life Cons: Poor image quality
I've owned this for about 3 years, and I've been fairly satisfied. The quality is not always the best. It always seems to work without any problems. The batteries last quite a while. Image quality is not the greatest with the 18 - 55 lens that it came with.

Digital Rebel XT
Date: January 13, 2009
Pros: excellent image quality, Simple controls/menu, Nice features/settings, Quick Start-up time Cons: small lcd
My first DSLR. This camera exceeded my expectations by far. I know others who have this camera and I've seen what it is capable of (gives me hope), but anyway all I can say is WOW! I would for sure recommend it to anyone. Hooked on EOS. I also am using Windows Vista and I have had no problems.

Great Camera/Full of Potential
Date: January 4, 2009
Pros: Superior build quality, excellent image quality, Simple controls/menu, Nice features/settings, Quick Start-up time, Solid Operation, easy to use, Lightweight/Portable Cons: Dim LCD
Hey, let's face it, the photographer has the greatest influence on whether the camera will take great pictures or not. Aside from any bad luck on buying a dead one, you cannot go wrong with the quality of this camera. This camera has the usual automatic modes that a lot of people have used with their point-n-shoots, but as one learns and begins to rely less on the auto and venture into the manual zones, you really see what it can do. And even today, 8mp's still holds up resolution-wise. We bought this camera in 2007 and started a business with it. Now we have a 50D, but still use the XT as a backup or as a second shooter when my wife and I go out on a job.

Greatest Rebel Ever
Date: January 2, 2009
Pros: Superior build quality, excellent image quality, Simple controls/menu, Nice features/settings, quiet, Quick Start-up time, Solid Operation, easy to use, Lightweight/Portable, good battery life Cons: Dim LCD
The Rebel XT was a Christmas gift in '07 and it was te best gift ever. It's light enough, small enough and simple enough for me (a woman with small features). The picture quality is second to none. I've been photographing for a great number of years and my customers love the results. Skill is only part of the equation...proper tools/equipment makes the difference. This is my third Canon. I'm a Canon consumer for life!!

Cannon Rebel XT
Date: January 1, 2009
Pros: Superior build quality, excellent image quality, Bright LCD, Simple controls/menu, Nice features/settings, quiet, Quick Start-up time, Solid Operation, easy to use, good battery life Cons: Heavy/Bulky
I have had this camera for 3 years and have no complaints. I always get compliments on my pictures. I will be moving up to a cannon with 21 or more mega pixels. The only complaint that I have is that I have a new note book with Vista 64. Cannon does not support a rebel xt driver for the Operating System, however on a earlier review I seen where we can change the output to printer and it will work, and it does. I am extememly pleased with this camera and my children have used it and are begging me for it! In rating this camera and its features between 1 & 10, I give it a "10", hands down!

Bad Luck
Date: December 28, 2008
We have not had good luck with cameras and bought this one to no avail. More bad luck. The camera would not take a charge from the battery and we bought an extra battery which didn't help. Obvioulsy something wrong with the camera. We have had repeated frustrations with the camera and we stepped up to buy this one to take pictures of our kids during their sports. We are now on vacation and it has "locked up" on us...for the last time. We tried to use this website to email Canon and could not. Just Bummed.

Vista Driver 64
Date: December 26, 2008
Cons: driver issues: not fun having to search all over
I was very frustrated about not having a driver for 64 however I found online that you can switch a setting on the camera itself.
if you hit the menu button and go to the right most tool tab, go down to the last option on the bottom ( 3 only on that screen) you can change it from PC Connection to "print/ptp". Once you switch that try reconnecting the camera to the computer and it will let you download your pictures again. :)

2+ year review
Date: December 14, 2008
Pros: ease of use will aid beginners take pro-photos., manual focus will beep when you are focused., gets good shots depending on lens avail. Cons: screen for review and menu only not photo taking., dust on sensor pro-removal only., long zooms result in blurred photos viewed 1:1., was very pricy when i purchased but have dropped.
Have used this camera for over 2 years. It is fully compatible with all my lenses from my Canon Rebel SLR purchased in early 1990s.
Have taken thousands of photos, including night time fireworks display, moon/stars, dark photos such as Christmas light displays, and nature photos such as sun dogs.
It always performs well, even in extreme cold temps (for a short period of time).

Second Camera
Date: December 9, 2008
Pros: lightweight, easy to use Cons: plastic case
I started my photography experience with this camera. I graduated to the Canon 40D to continued my progress. A problem has risen from shoot to shoot that it would have been nice to have a second camera so that lens changing could be kept at a minimum. I was sorry I sold my original Rebel XT so I bought another one. It is a great, light weight, second camera.

Camera Great-but no driver
Date: November 30, 2008
The Rebel XT is is a great camera but I can't use it on Windows Vista 64 bit as there is no driver available from Canon - making a perfectly good camera obsolete less than 2 years after purchase.
