PIXMA MP950

The AE (Auto Exposure) Copy feature automatically optimizes reproduction quality based on the type of original you're duplicating. Plus, the convenient Photo/Film button lets you make reprints of photos and 35mm film without using your computer. When scanning, high performance CCD technology produces spectacular 3200-dpi scans, with vibrant 48-bit color depth. You can simultaneously scan up to 12 frames of 35mm film (negatives or positives), or up to 8 mounted slides. For convenience, two paper trays let you keep photo paper stored in one, plain paper in the other, so you're always ready to print either photos or documents. You can print 2 sided documents automatically to help save on paper costs, and even create 2 sided photos using Canon Photo Paper Plus Double Sided in 5 x 7 and 8.5 x 11 inch sizes. Extra-large 3.6" Color LCD viewer. To evaluate and enhance your images before printing, just insert your compatible memory card 3 into one of the built-in card slots. Then, select images on the extra-large 3.6" LCD color viewer, a high-definition TFT display that delivers sharper, more vivid previews. Images will automatically be enhanced for red eye, sharpness and brightness values, or you can fine tune them yourself using the easy control panel. You can also print directly from PictBridge ready devices. Long-lasting photos with smart individual ink tanks. The Canon ChromaLife100 system combines the PIXMA MP950 Photo All-In-One's FINE printhead technology and newly developed inks with select Canon photo papers, with results rivaling that of many conventional photos. And with the new smart LED ink tanks, your LED lamp flashes when ink is running low, and flashes even faster when nearing empty.

Darkroom in a box........
Date: November 20, 2009
Pros: Compact Design, durable, Easy Setup, easy to use, reliable, Sharp Tones & Colors
Cons: High Ink Consumption, slow startup
I used to have a separate scanner and printer. At one time, to get quality results, you had to have separate pieces. But the MP950 is the answer to small footprint and quality photography. Good and solid drivers.

A balanced buy
Date: May 18, 2009
Pros: Easy Setup, easy to use, fast print speed, reliable, 35mm scan
Cons: Heavy/Bulky, High Ink Consumption
While it is perhaps true that it does not conserve ink very well, the added feature of a film scanner is a nice add-on. While it is not the highest quality to scan film on a flat-bed scanner, it is a nice backup to have when in a pinch.
This coupled with bottom tray feeding cassette for paper, or top sheet feeding is another great option that makes it space saving when stacked on a shelf. Although, the printer is bulky by today's standards.
The scans are good quality and the color matching is pretty good for this price range. I disagree with other reviews found on this site and as a photographer myself I would say that this is a balanced buy for a modest budget.
The inklevels are usually accurate and the print speed, while not a race horse, is not noticeably slow.
Especially, as I have said prior, if you need to do a few quick scans of 35mm film.

Canon Mp950
Date: March 17, 2009
Pros: Easy Setup, easy to use, fast print speed, Low Ink Consumption, reliable, Sharp Tones & Colors, single color refills
I have had mine for several years now and had found problem other than the little door over the SanCards that fell off.
I would by another printer like this in flash as its fast and prints great I have lots of 10X8 pictures all over the house printed on this printer and they have no fade inseveral year even when exposed to the sunlite.

Very Disappointing
Date: January 18, 2009
Cons: High Ink Consumption, unreliable
This has been a very difficult printer to use. It uses a lot of ink even if you just print documents. The scan mode also does not work well. When I send emails of documents, the recipients often say that they cannot read the scan.
Great disappointment coming from a company like Cannon

Cons: High Ink Consumption, pm 8 difficult to find. why isn't it included?
Inks are not bundled together. Why is PM 8 a separate color and package? I'm in the middle of printing, picked up the 4 package of inks and the large black. But why t
l is Photo Magenta a separate color?
