Pros: small and high quality, gives you a reason to get a good tripod!
Cons: small and for pan and tilt you need a good tripod, needs another battery added to the package.
Each time I use another of my 3 HD cameras or the cameras at work, I always come back to this little beauty because it is perfect for quality and more quality! The clear video footage either through a spotting scope or by its self, is what I would say is perfect!
Well done Canon!

Pros: good battery life, Easy Computer Connectivity, Great sound/audio, Accurate, Vivid Colors, Compact Design, excellent image quality, Good Software Compatibility, Ergonomic/comfortable to hold, Easy TV Connectivity, easy to use, optional lenses
Cons: Poor Low-Light Performance, no night vision mode
For anyone looking for a truly versatile, compact and HD quality camera for sports events, Parties or special events this is it. I have used my Canon HV10 for almost two years now and have compared it to some of my friends HD cam's. Every time the HV10 wins. The biggest surprise for most are the optional lens choices available. From fish eye to long range theirs a lens available. Also notable is the long battery life about 2hr on a single battery. The built in mic is stereo and very sensitive. And with 5 Megapixels still pictures I sometimes leave my Canon 5D at home. Everyone I have lent this camera too has had nothing but the best to say about it. The HV10 is simple, expandable & compact. What more can I say.

Cons: Short battery life
I am in love with this HV10 camcorder. IMHO, the Canon HV series (HV10/20/30) are THE BEST consumer HD camcorder models around. They share the same specs for video recording so produce the same image. I like the upright form factor of the HV10, while the HV20/30 is more a traditional form factor. These cams that use the miniDV format give a much better HD picture than the newer AVCHD models based on hard drive, flash drive, or DVD (yuck!) recording. Plus, with AVCHD where are you going to store all your footage over the years? Also, AVCHD requires the fastest computer to process, while the HDV standard of the HV10 can be edited on almost all computers and is compatible with more software (I use Apple's iMovie and it works great).
The HV10 is the worlds smallest and lightest HD camcorder. With such a small cam it is not a burden to carry it around so you will bring it to EVERYTHING and will ensure you will not miss any footage.
The only con I have of this camcorder is the stock battery has a fairly short life (probably about 50 minutes recording time using LCD and on/off recording). For many situations you may only record 15 or 30 minutes, so you don't need to worry. But for vacations where you may shoot off and on all day and you don't know how much you will get, I would recommend the Lenmar equivalent of Canon's next size battery. (That's what I bought.) Avoid those generic batteries on ebay coming from China. I tried those and they are horrible. Lenmar is best bang for buck.

Got this HD cam corder about a years ago or so and I was amazed how can a compact camcorder can give you so much detail to a T. Would fit in my pocket so I won't have to carry it around on my neck when not in use, and slip it out when I need it, perfect.
