I purchased a Canon XTI in 2007 and have had nothing but a great experience. I easily learned the functions and buttons and they are laid out well. Custom picture styles, great at handling high ISO's, not as bulky as the more expensive DSLR's. I have been able to take fantastic photos and I have no desire to upgrade to anything else, this camera does all I need for the photos I take. I am very pleased.

Half the modes are useless

Pros: good photos when the lighting is perfect Cons: doe snto perform as well as p&s indoors
Canon hs a HUGE problem with the Rebel XTI under exposing shots using one of the automatic modes. For in door party shots a $200 point and shot will do better. Many of my photos have way too much red and are dark. Many forums have people claiming the same thing. Even the experience photographers adit there is an issue and the only solution is to NOT use the automatice modes, but instead use the more manual modes. It's really sad.

Very disappointed with Rebel XTi

I had a Canon Rebel XT at work and it worked great for along time. So I bought a Rebel XTi for home and it has worked well for the past 2 years.
However, within the past 2 months, both my work and home cameras have totally died. I really believed Canon sold quality cameras, but now I have my doubts. Shouldn't a camera last longer than 2 years?

Pros: clarity of photos Cons: poor balance with zoom lens
I received my Rebel in June of this year and have taken over 30,000 pictures with this camera. The learning curve is very good for this camera and I love the action shots with burst mode. As a entry level SLR camera I am pleased with the many features this camera has. I have already purchased two lenses and love the quality of each photo I take.
