Used 1 month, constant paper jams
Date: February 27, 2010
Pros: Easy Setup
Cons: Difficult to use, unreliable, Flimsy Construction
Barely used it one month and the paper constantly jams. Pulls one side or if it does go in straight the rollers pull the paper forward, back out, forward, back out until it jams. Tried every maintenance button in the properties from roller cleaning to print head cleaning and the paper jams and will not even finish. It flashes 3 times - so I remove the paper, turn it off, turn it on, reload the paper, and try again with the same results. Put your money towards a more quality printer.

The Canon Pixma ip1800 Printer
Date: February 13, 2010
Pros: reliable, Easy Setup, durable, Lightweight/Portable, fast print speed, easy to use
Cons: Dull Tones & Colors, High Ink Consumption
I am very pleased with my Canon Pixma ip1800 printer. It prints near laser quality graphics and text, it handles paper almost flawlessly and it prints pages very quickly.
About the only drawbacks are:
1. It isn't compatible with the PG-50 and CL-51 ink cartridges which has more ink volume.
2. When printing photos, the flesh tones seem to have a reddish hue or tint.

Wish I had left it in the store
Date: January 23, 2010
Pros: Compact Design, Easy Setup, easy to use
Cons: unreliable, bad photo print quality
I purchased this printer because I take and like to print a lot of photos. I also like scanning old photos reprinting them for keepsakes. I was so excited to get this until I started printing the pictures and the colors of the photos are not even close to what they should be. I have tried all of the settings and nothing makes them look any better, the backgrounds are to bright the faces are to dark. I send them to the one hour photo or even print them on my non photo printer and they turn out nicer. I will be looking for another printer. This time i will be trying it out in the store before i bring it home. Save your money on this one.

Horrible! Uses up ink just sitting there!
Date: December 17, 2009
Pros: Compact Design, Easy Setup, Lightweight/Portable, easy to use
Cons: High Ink Consumption
All I print are low ink coverage receipts at my retail shop and this goes thru a cartridge a week! it uses ink every few minutes just sitting there in between printing! I hate it so much I won't even GIVE it away when I get a new printer; i will just junk it!

Printer eats Ink
Date: December 7, 2009
Pros: Easy Setup
Cons: Slow Print Speed, Dull Tones & Colors, High Ink Consumption, unreliable, Flimsy Construction
This printer east up ink like there is no tomorrow. There is no way to tell it to just use the black cartridge. Even b/w documents use the color cartridge somehow. Price of ink is outrages. Speed is slow, qualiy of photo print is marginal at best.

Best to be avoided
Date: November 9, 2009
Pros: Compact Design, Lightweight/Portable, Easy Setup, easy to use
Cons: Slow Print Speed, High Ink Consumption, unreliable
I have used an iP1800 extensively over the last 3 or 4 months. While it's simple to set up and use, I find the ink consumption to be extremely high. Paper seems to never feed straight, so all printing is slightly crooked. Certain high-gloss, Canon papers, which I've used for printing certificates, smeared horribly during printing, making them embarrassingly unusable for my workshop graduates.
Overall, a huge disappointment and an unbelievable step down from my ancient BJC-210J (purchased in Japan many, many years ago).

Paper jams with no fix.
Date: October 6, 2009
Pros: Easy Setup, easy to use, Sharp Tones & Colors
Cons: Flimsy Construction, unreliable
Just like two of the other posters, the printer worked well for a few months and it started having these weird problems like the paper jamming right before feeding for printing & leaving a red mark at the left top
All the troubleshooting provided on the interface did not work for it and now that it is past the 90 day warranty. Looks like i have no recourse but to throw away a perfectly good printer with most of the ink left in it. I've never had a printer die on me this quickly before (and i've been through my fair share)
I am disappointed because Canon (cameras, their earlier printer etc) has always been a reliable brand for me.

WORKS WELL FOR ME.
Date: July 24, 2009
Pros: Compact Design, Lightweight/Portable, Easy Setup, easy to use, reliable, Sharp Tones & Colors
Cons: High Ink Consumption
I'VE HAD THIS PRINTER FOR ABOUT 2 YEARS AND HAVEN'T HAD ANY TROUBLE WITH PAPER JAMS OR ANYTHING ELSE. YOU CAN BUY THE MORE EXPENSIVE INK (40 &41) OR THE CHEAPER (30&31), WHICH I USE.

GREAT FOR THE PRICE
Date: June 1, 2009
Pros: durable, Easy Setup, reliable, Sharp Tones & Colors
THERE IS ONE THING THAT THE BUYER FORGETS IS THAT THESE PRINTERS ARE BASICALLY FREE. LIKE A DIABETIC GETS A LOW COST OR FREE METER, YOU HAVE TO GET HIGHLY PRICED TEST STRIPS THAT CAN ONLY BE USED IN THAT METER. SAME THING WITH A PRINTER AND INK CARTRIDGES, CHEAP PRINTER HIGHLY PRICED INK. THE MORE YOU PRINT, THE MORE INK WILL BE CONSUMED. BUT OVERALL THE 1800 PRINTER IS A VALUE FOR THE MONEY, IF YOU DONT OVERUSE IT.

LOUD and NOISY - prints great
Date: May 28, 2009
Pros: Compact Design, easy to use, Sharp Tones & Colors
Cons: very loud
This printer is sleek and stylish. It prints beautifully...but it is soooooo LOUD! I can't use it when my baby is asleep in the next room because this noisy printer wakes him up everytime...and he is not a light sleeper. It makes a sound before every print like the parts are falling apart and banging against each other within the printer. That is the only real downfall. Unless this printer is to be used in a noisy factory..don't buy it. Consider yourself warned.

Worst ever
Date: May 10, 2009
Cons: Flimsy Construction, unreliable
This is the worst printer I have ever owned. We have two all-in-one Canon printers that are wonderful, however the two Pixma ip1800 printers are the worst printers we have ever had. Sometimes they will only print in black and white, sometimes they don't print at all. We have done all the troubleshooting and they just simply do not work well. Not worth the investment in my opinion.

Worked out of the box with wireless print buffer. Stingy with ink, wonderful lifespan on the cartridge. Good color and crisp black-and-white. I would buy another in a heartbeat!

I must have got a good one!
Date: December 9, 2008
Pros: Compact Design, Easy Setup, easy to use, Low Ink Consumption, reliable, Sharp Tones & Colors
Mine works fine. I have printed at least 50 pictures with it so far. 4x6 and 5x7. All still with the stock cartridges. I just picked up 2 new cartridges I got the 40&41 because we where printing 30 x-mass cards (5x7) but it still has not run out. I dont know if it doesnt print without one of the cartridges though, cant figure out why you would want to do that.

the review that said it wont print without both cartridges is wrong. This prints a LOT of you buy the 40/41 series ink for it. Mines lasted over a year now.
