This is true high-performance versatility. You'll quickly print photos with color resolution up to 4800 x 1200 color dpi 1 ; a borderless 4" x 6" photo takes only about 46 seconds 2 . The Automatic Document Feeder (ADF) holds up to 30 originals, so it's much easier to copy, scan or fax large documents. Copies will be remarkably true to the originals, and documents will feature bold, laser-quality text. After spending about $ 600.00 per year at Staples buying ink for this unit, it died today.
Know this about this unit.
+Very much needs good paper or you'll have plenty of jams.
+ it's loud ( and I'm not picky )
+ The fax has few options
+ if you run low on ink- you'll not see a fax printed - if you replace ink when it says it's low - you'll buy alot of ink.
You could spend a bit more and get plenty more value within Canon's line up.

The ink cartridges cannot be refilled and are way too expensive for the amount of product sold. I will not purchase a Canon printer again as this one costs too much to keep running. Period!

Im a graduate student, I purchased this printer with my Mac. I was just looking for a printer for school. Nothing extreme, just basic print outs, when i hooked up this printer up, it was amazing. I realized i would use it for more than just school. I have scanned and printed tons of pics. Its amazing, the print quality is great. I could not have asked for something better. So if your looking for pics printing and or color prints for work or school. this is the way to go. I recommended it to several friends and all are satisfied. Good luck.!!

Pixma MX310 paper load issue

Features are average for a multi-function printer. Performance and print quality was also average. However, durability is extremely poor. We've had this printer for less than a year and it's already broken. Purchased from Circuit City so we can't return to a store for exchange or refund. From one moment to the next, it started jamming the paper when we try to print. Paper gets caught at the corner and will not load or print. There is a 1000 message, and it says "load paper" on the display. There is no paper or foreign object jamming the load. It simply stopped working properly. Not overly expensive, but considering the amount of time we've owned this printer, it seems like a total waste of money. We do not recommend this item to anyone.

The ink cartridges cannot be refilled.
In this age of "going green" this is not much to my liking. Had I known, I would have looked further and paid a little more for the privilege of not mucking up the planet.
Also- the readout on the printer is challenging to anyone without excellent eyes. It needs to be a little larger, better quality LCDs, and set at an angle that makes it possible to read without standing up , leaning over, and squinting.
When I bought it, I was under the impression that the paper supply was selectable- so that I did not have to constantly change the input paper type. That would have been very useful to me.
The on screen interface is more cute than as utilitarian as it needs to be. A little too much distance between buttons.

I'm very happy with the quality and reliability of this printer, but my biggest complaint is the cartridge life. Yes, inkjet printers are notorious for cartridges not lasting long and being expensive to replace, but this is enough for me to never purchase another Canon printer, even though I had wanted one for a few years. The ink cartridge that came with the printer lasted probably 150-200 pages (simple text, no fancy printing). I figured that they probably had a "cheap" ink cartridge that came with the printer, so I ordered the highest volume ink cartridge that Canon makes for this printer through Canon's website, and it lasted only about 300 pages, with no more than 10 of them being anything more than simple text. So, my printer sits and collects dust as I don't want to continually buy ink cartridges for it. I really love my Canon camera, and I love most everything about the printer, but I'll have to go with another brand of printer next time.

This has been a very reliable machine for scanning and printing. I use internet fax so I don't do the faxing. I was also very happy to get all the software and drivers needed to reinstall on a new computer. I will buy Canon again.

I purchased this unit after owning both Canon scanners and Canon printers. I thought this would be the best of both. What I discovered is that it works well but spends a lot of time performing "housekeeping" duties. It whirs and clicks for quite some time before printing or copying. This activity goes on during start-up and shut down as well. If you run multiple pages on the copier or through the print mode it works pretty well, but for the occasional page here and there it's annoying. It even runs through the noises when you start it and press "Scan" right away and won't do anything else until it's done with the "housekeeping" business.
I do like the software included for scanning. The ADF works well and two sided scans are done with ease.

I have been using this for a while now it has had its moments. The photos come out with a white film or discolored ie..greenish tint. It has fitted my needs but I will be moving up in class to a laser photo. I do wedding photography as a side gig only on a small scale. Sometimes I am challange with not getting the photo centered on the paper, I have wasted a lot of paper 4x6 and 8x10. It uses a lot of ink! Consistency is my only problem but it is a big problem. There is where my frustration comes from putting a shoot in the paper in the same spot everytime.

It prints in small letters even if you try to make them large than it prints half of the page. It prints too slow and it runs out of in very quickly. DO NO BUY you are wasting your money.
