The Canon EOS-1Ds Mark III is an engineering tour de force which, true to the EOS-1 legacy, redefines the state of the art in no uncertain terms. An entirely new 21.1-megapixel full-frame Canon CMOS sensor delivers astounding image quality and creates new photographic possibilities. Dual "DIGIC III" Image Processors work in tandem to speed up data handling and camera operation, while further refining imaging performance. Tough, high-durability body and shutter designs, combined with the unique EOS Integrated Cleaning System, set new standards for professional dependability. Cutting-edge features-such as a large 3.0-inch LCD monitor with Live View Function, and a fast, precise 45-point AF system-make the EOS-1Ds Mark III powerful and versatile. And, of course, the EOS-1Ds Mark III is part of the unparalleled EOS System, which, with more than 50 EF lenses, 15 interchangeable focusing screens, and extensive wireless remote control and lighting accessories, is the most advanced and powerful digital photography system in the world.

Simply Awesome!
Date: September 2, 2009
Pros: Superior build quality, excellent image quality, Bright LCD, Simple controls/menu, Nice features/settings, quiet, Quick Start-up time, Solid Operation, easy to use, good battery life Cons: low lcd resolution
After using the 1Ds Mark III for over a year, I'm still thoroughly amazed at its images! My clients really appreciate the large file size - and I appreciate getting this quality at the price - opposed to going medium format.
I also like the professional features of the menu system, mass (weight) for stability, and overall ergonomics. It's so easy to shoot this camera and a real joy too!
Battery life is AWESOME! For both the 1Ds M3 & 1D M3 bodies, I have a spare battery that I've never needed while on a shoot. I've had the battery last for three full days...amazing!
If Canon could get the cost down, I wouldn't hesitate to get another for other full-frame shooting as the build quality is miles above the 5D series bodies. Even after taking a 20-foot fall (in a roller case), the body still worked fine...as did all my glass.
I really couldn't find any cons except the price and low LCD Resolution. (And that's only because the newer bodies have much better LCD's.)

Pros: Superior build quality, excellent image quality, Simple controls/menu, Nice features/settings, quiet, Quick Start-up time, Solid Operation, good battery life, great files Cons: Difficult to use, Heavy/Bulky, low resolution lcd
I have been using this camera since it first became available here in the USA. The quality of the images (files) is unlike any other DSLR I have ever used, I love this camera, this is the first digital camera that I have ever been satisfied with and that is saying a lot.

Amazing Camera
Date: August 9, 2009
Pros: Superior build quality, excellent image quality, Bright LCD, Simple controls/menu, Nice features/settings, Quick Start-up time, Solid Operation, easy to use, good battery life
I've been shooting with this camera for a little over a year and a half now. It has NEVER let me down once. I checked all the Pros but didn't check any Cons, mainly because I can't find any. I guess the only thing I would have loved if Canon had a silent shooting mode, where the shutter was completely silent. But if I want that I'll use a blimp, but the settings are not as easy to get to if I do. I also have the new 5D Mark II, it's a nice camera and the 21 mpx being the same might seem like a thorn in the flesh because it's less than half the cost, but let me say this....there IS a difference. While the 5D is nice, it's not the 1ds Mark III. The build is no where near as solid for one, but my review is not for the 5D but for the 1ds Mark III I love it and if something happened to it, I'd buy another over the 5D all day long. In sporting events or any other type of shoot where you need to depend on your equipment this one has not let me down.

Superb Performer
Date: April 3, 2009
Pros: Superior build quality, excellent image quality, Simple controls/menu, Nice features/settings, Quick Start-up time, Solid Operation, good battery life Cons: Heavy/Bulky, cost
After 16 months of use, the 1Ds Mark III has proven to be a superb camera. Image quality is remarkably good and the build quality is without peer. The awkward AF point selector aside, the controls are well placed and intuitive, which makes this camera much easier to use than its predecessor. Start up time is fast and processing time is reasonable, given the huge size of the files. The menu design is vastly improved and the battery life is nothing short of amazing. I have a spare battery for my 1D series cameras and have yet to use it, even when shooting all day long with IS in cold weather. This camera also performs extremely well in inclimate weather; I have shot outdoor sports in the driving rain with no protection whatsoever and it never fogged or stalled. Other than weight, cost and the AF selector, I have been completely satisfied with the performance of this camera and would recommend it to any serious photographer.

Full Frame DLRS
Date: February 15, 2009
Pros: excellent image quality, Solid Operation, good battery life
Recently upgraded from 1Ds to the 1Ds Mk III, I really love this camera. The larger screen (3" compared to 2"), the "mouse" button, the obvious picture quality. I have been using this camera to shoot HS wrestling, with a 70-200 2.8 lens, sometimes using a 2x converter. The pictures are usually very easy to process, depending on my skills. The build quality is great, the dust management system was one of the reasons I upgraded. I wish the ISO went higher like the 1D Mk III, but I realize my shooting so far isn't this camera's forte. Easy to manipulate the settings, fairly intuitive coming from the 1st Gen 1Ds. This was a very good investment in my opinion. Couldn't the LCD match the competitor regarding pixel count? The battery last a very long time, even with image stabilized lens.

Pros: Superior build quality, excellent image quality, Bright LCD, Simple controls/menu, Nice features/settings, Quick Start-up time, Solid Operation, good battery life
The EOS 1Ds3 is as well sealed as they say. Snow, rain, sleet, hail...finally had to dunk it in the river to mess it up. Ouch. Not on purpose. So now it is in the shop. But otherwise the best digital body I've ever used. I'd have more if they weren't so spendy. As backup for when I let my guard down resulting in a trip to Repair. Besides the great resolution, decent speed, low noise at high ISO, etc., one of the things I love about it is the "film-like" look it produces.

Date: February 14, 2009
Pros: Superior build quality, excellent image quality, Quick Start-up time, Solid Operation, good battery life
This camera is amazing. Hand held or tripod mounted this camera performs like no other. I have also owned a 50D and while it is a great camera it has nothing on this monster. Combining this camera with the EOS Utility and Digital Photo professional anyone, even an amateur like me, can take extraordinary photos. While there is a learning curve it is an easy one to come to grips with.

Great Envestment add to your Arsonal
Date: December 15, 2008
Pros: Superior build quality, excellent image quality, Bright LCD, Simple controls/menu, Nice features/settings, quiet, Quick Start-up time, Solid Operation, easy to use, Lightweight/Portable, good battery life
Excellent working speed with superb image Quality performance, not only is the 21.1 mega pixel a plus but the processing is greater than I could have imagined with the Dual Digic lll Processors as it will enrich your Photos. Being able to use CF or SD Memory cards and allowing you to use them at the same time, Canon has raised the Bar here, just make sure you have equal GB on both cards when using both. My belief is yes, you can take a good picture with a sheep camera but you can take a great picture with great Camera.

what a miracle
Date: December 5, 2008
Pros: Superior build quality, excellent image quality, Bright LCD, Simple controls/menu, Nice features/settings, Quick Start-up time, Solid Operation, Lightweight/Portable, good battery life, intuitive Cons: high price
this camera replaced my Hasselblad H2 and I never looked back. using it with the 85mm L f1.2 is a complete break through in photography. adding the wireless transmitter is another miraculous feature that has my clients in awe. The extended ISO range with its great noise reduction and pixel size is remarkable. Finally, the dust delete info feature is perfected and its a great plus.
