CanoScan LiDE200

How easy is this? Just select what you want to do with your original-scan, copy, or create email attachments or PDFs-and the entire process is automated. The new Auto Scan Mode detects your type of original, then scans and saves it with the optimal settings. Your results will be outstanding, with color dpi resolution up to 4800 x 4800, and you can also create fabulous 19200 x 19200 software-enhanced interpolated scans. Plus, a letter-sized color scan takes only about 14 seconds2. The Advanced Z-Lid lets you produce clear, complete scans of thick originals such as notebooks. And to reduce "cable clutter," one simple cable provides power and a USB 2.0 Hi-Speed connection. Please click on the image below to view the related video.

Easy installation - high performance
Date: February 2, 2010
Pros: Compact Design, Fast Connectivity, High-speed scanning, easy to use, easy installation
Cons: help screens lacking detailations
I had been having difficulty getting my All-in-One scanner to work with OSX 10.5 and finally purchased the LiDE 200. The installation was quick and the unit performed immediately upon plugging in the USB cord. In addition the unit is light and has a small footprint leaving me plenty of counter space I didn't have with my old unit. First results were quite good-- the unit could scan and was able to recognize multiple images, saving much time. The only Con was the online manual which, in my opinion, was lacking in detail. However the program functions are clear enough for straightforward scanning.

Light weight
Date: January 23, 2010
Pros: Compact Design, durable, Fast Connectivity, High-speed scanning, easy to use
I work in construction and travel all over the world. This scanner is very light weight and thin so it is easy to pack in my computer bag and take on job sites as well as through the airport. Scan quality is great and it does not bog my computer down. The softwear is easy to use and installation is a breeze.

Nice and simple
Date: January 23, 2010
Pros: Compact Design, Fast Connectivity, High resolution, High-speed scanning, easy to use
Very nice compact scaner for every day use and creative photo projects. Set up was easy minus the finger nail bitting while the drivers loaded compared to other brands. I like the little stand provided saving space within the desk area. Thanks Canon.

Excellent Investment !!
Date: January 10, 2010
Pros: Compact Design, Fast Connectivity, High-speed scanning, easy to use
So easy to set up. Needs only USB connector. How sweet is that?! Light weight, but got down to business right away. This is my first Canon product. My last two scanners (** & *****) were always giving me problems, the last one did not support Windows 7. I did my research and find this one to be everything advertising promised. All this at a fair price, WOW!...
Thank you so very much!!!

Not as good resolution as prior model
Date: January 3, 2010
Pros: Compact Design, durable, Fast Connectivity, High-speed scanning, easy to use
Cons: Low resolution
I bought the 200 to replace a lide 20/30. The prior model was absolutely outstanding resolution. Perfect. This model is not even close. Disappointing is hardly descriptive enough. They may claim this one is higher resolution but I can't even come close to what I am used to with the prior model. The increased speed is nice but what's the point if the quality is lacking.

Excellent product
Date: December 22, 2009
Pros: Compact Design, Fast Connectivity, High resolution, High-speed scanning, easy to use, multi-photo scanning
Cons: no cons encountered
I just completed my Christmas project - scanning pictures from my mom's family photo album - to share with my siblings and children. The scanner and software made this project quick and easy. I scanned 223 pictures in three evenings. Remarkable how the platen can take multiple (8 or more) pictures at one scan and save each picture as a separate file. How easy is that! This scanner was a replacement for an old scanner that doesn't connect to my newer laptop. This was easy to setup and use. I love the small footprint and weight. A great product! Thanks.

Excellent Purchase
Date: December 8, 2009
Pros: Compact Design, High resolution, easy to use
After many years of using a LiDE35 I upgraded to the LiDE200 scanner. Good move ! Sharp, clear scans and the newer software, MP Navigator, automatically crops a scanned item. OCR doesn't work but I don't have much ned for that anyway. Pictures were my main concern.

I really do like the new scanner that I got for Christmas. It really does an excellent job of copying photos and all kinds of document scanning. This is so much better than my old HP scanner. Night and Day.

Fantastic value!
Date: September 29, 2009
Pros: Compact Design, durable, easy to use, High-speed scanning, Fast Connectivity, High resolution, great value !
I bought this scanner going strictly by the reviews, and boy were they right! I have had five or six HP's, but never again. This beats them hands down. I run it with a 2.47 Ghz Core 2 Quad with 2 500G hard drives and it fits right in. I love the "batch scan" as I call it. I am scanning old photo albums and it really saves time. If you are thinking of getting one, go ahead. Installation is a snap, maybe 4 or 5 minutes.

Economic Scanner
Date: August 15, 2009
Pros: easy to use, High-speed scanning, Fast Connectivity, High resolution, economic
Cons: not a professional scanner
This scanner lived up to my expectations.
Registering the product left a lot to be desired. Had to get help from customer support to complete the task. Not a big deal, but the process didn't work for me using the Canon Solution Menu after loading the software. The menu has registration of product as a choice. When selected, you are asked to set up an account. Once done, you can log in and go to registration; however, the product choice for a scanner does not exist. If this happens to you, send a note to customer support who in turn will send a note back with step by step instructions to complete the registration.
This scanner will do the job you expect for an inexpensive scanner. If you want professional scans, you should purchase a professional scanner. This scanner can be classified as a high quality scanner.

It costs a LOT more for a better one
Date: August 3, 2009
Pros: Compact Design, durable, easy to use, High-speed scanning, High resolution, cost effective
I now own four of these scanners for archival research, which I use in a small group scanning tens of thousands of pdf pages and thousands of photographs. I so appreciate the speed clarity and flexibility of this machine, especially using ScanGears advanced settings. These include some color management features that are important for workflow into Photoshop and professional printing. It is a testament to this machine that for my most mission-critical photographic scans I skip all the way up to the Epson Perfection 750 Pro, which is much bigger and much more expensive but very high end. This LiDE 200 skips over many scanners in between to rate being beside the Epson.
The LiDE 200 is the fastest scanner I've used so far. For comparison, the LiDE 80 takes 37 seconds to scan one 8x11 color document at 300dpi. The LiDE 200 takes 14-18 seconds. When you're scanning thousands of pages, this speed is money in the bank.
The only reason I gave it four stars instead of five on Performance is that you really need to pay attention to executing the calibration routine on a regular basis. After a couple of hundred pages, you begin to see horizontal "shifts" in a scan. This is not a problem if you regularly calibrate the scanner.
The machine is highly portable, durable and simple to use.

Scanner for traveling
Date: July 2, 2009
Pros: Compact Design, durable, easy to use, High-speed scanning, Fast Connectivity, High resolution, reasonably priced
Cons: no cons that i can say!
I am an over the road trucker. This scanner has proved to be one of the best "tools" I own. It's ease of use and use of small space is phenomenal. This is replacing another Cano Scan product I had comparable. The price can't be beat for the service it provides. Thank you Cannon!
PS I have set these scanners up for several other truckers on the road as well, they are all very happy with them.
