Highly recommend this product. Relatively easy to put printer together, setting up wireless connection was a snap. Have printed, copied and scanned - still using original ink that came with the printer 3 months ago. Just can't figure out how to use rear-loading paper tray, but haven't tried too hard to troubleshoot. Using bottom-loading paper tray works just as well. Would suggest this to anyone looking for a new printer.

Pros: Easy Setup, easy to use
Cons: Slow Print Speed
This printer was easy to set up wirelessly. I use it with one Mac and one PC right now. I like the fact the paper tray is out of sight and the doors can be kept closed since I do not dust every day, the door will open automatically when needed.

I have used my new MP640 for several weeks. It does everything that it claims. Results are high quality. The unit is quiet and relatively fast. Set-up was smooth. Canon, the best
Date: March 5, 2010
Pros: reliable, Compact Design, Easy Setup, durable, Lightweight/Portable, Sharp Tones & Colors, fast print speed, easy to use
This is my second Canon all in one. I've used many different brands of printers over the years but until I purchased a Canon I didn't know what I was missing!! I have a Mac computer and Canon is easy to install and works first time and always. My first one lasted 3 years, 2 years longer than any other brand. With the first one, I never had to down load a driver which I had to do with all the other printers I've used. I do wish that Canon's photo software for Mac was more user friendly and more detailed. I use the scanner for photos a lot and find this 640 model very easy to use and get excellent quality pictures on glossy photo paper.

Best Yet
Date: March 4, 2010
Pros: reliable, Compact Design, Easy Setup, durable, Low Ink Consumption, Sharp Tones & Colors, fast print speed, easy to use, quiet running
This is the best all around printer I have ever owned. I do mostly photos and it does a great job. You have to under-stand the software and all the adjustment setups in order to achieve good results. Experiment with the adjustments until it gets you the resulta you are looking for. The ink consumption is not bad at all even with the initial ink which ususlly goes in a hurry primeing a new machine. I have owned three other major brands and this is the best for me. Canon support is great and to the point and a quick response.

Consider your needs
Date: February 24, 2010
Pros: Compact Design, Easy Setup, Lightweight/Portable, fast print speed, easy to use
Cons: High Ink Consumption
I bought the printer because of favorable reviews I had read and a very useful discount program from my local seller. The thing that impressed me first and foremost was the rating of its text print quality as "Superior" by the testing lab. Most of what I do is straightforward text work, so I bought without hesitation. It was only when I began to replace black print cartridges rather frequently (by my estimation) that I fully realized that I had bought what was mainly a photo-printer, not a word processor output. I hardly use the color print cartridges at all, except when downloading Web pages. Buying the multi-cartridge ink packages to get more black ink and to save money, I now have several sets of color refills drying on the shelf. My advice, think your needs through carefully before deciding on a printer.

The Best I've owned
Date: February 17, 2010
Pros: reliable, Easy Setup, Low Ink Consumption, Sharp Tones & Colors, fast print speed, easy to use
Cons: none
This is by far the best I have owned. I am a photo inthusiast and do a lot of it. The print quality once I got everything adjusted and tuned is great. You must take the extra time to figure out the different adjustments and make use of them. I love the flexability of this unit. I have owned 3 other major brands and this is my first canon and it is by far superior to what I have had. Only had a few days but I have put it to the test and it has won by leaps and bounds. Hopefully the longevity will succeed the other brands. Buy it for I have no negative reports to make on this MP640.

Purchased mainly for 4X6 photos. First MP640 photo quality unacceptable. Repeated cleaning did not help. Returned to local retailer for exchange .Second one prints fine.
Setup on Xp and Vista network was quick and easy--good instructions.

BEST PRINTER PURCHASE EVER
Date: February 10, 2010
Pros: Compact Design, Easy Setup, Sharp Tones & Colors, fast print speed, easy to use
Cons: none
I am completely blown away with my MP640. I replaced my 5-year-old Canon iP4000 with it. Absolutely perfect! Cannot believe the prints, copies and scans of photos....the resolution is so sharp, you can't tell from the originals...unbelievable! Love the 3" LCD screen.
No Vista problems.
The set-up was no trouble at all.....it is a little involved but just follow the excellent instructions given.

Great printer with back-up support
Date: February 6, 2010
Pros: Compact Design, durable, Lightweight/Portable, fast print speed, easy to use
This is a compact, powerful printer with quality printing and easy to use features. Like most of the Canon products I use, this is a powerful piece of technology that's pretty easy to learn right off the bat.
Many reviews here state that set-up is a breeze. Such was not the case for me, but it turned out the problem was a router firewall issue. Still, the Canon tech support was patient and professional throughout the entire time it took to walk through the process. I couldn't be happier with with the assistance I got from Ramona, Bob and Christine, They sat on the phone with me until we finished the job. When a call was unexpectedly dropped, they even called me back to make sure things were working,
Do yourself a favor...pick up a Canon printer. Not only will you get quality performance that lasts the distance but the customer support to back it up.

Great Printer
Date: January 25, 2010
Pros: Easy Setup, easy to use
Cons: Slow Print Speed
This printer has a ton a features, and works well. We have a Windows 7 desktop, Windows 7 starter netbook, a Macbook (10.6), and a linux machine all printing to this one printer wirelessly. It is relatively quiet. The prints look great. Everything about this printer is great for the price. I can't comment on ink life as I have yet to run out.

Great Printer
Date: January 19, 2010
Pros: Compact Design, Easy Setup, Lightweight/Portable, Sharp Tones & Colors, fast print speed, easy to use
Cons: Difficult to use
Purchased this to replace a C755, since it also had seperate ink tanks. Setup went well, no problem. Still learning to use all the features. Have copied, scanned and printed documents with pictures and photos. I use wired connection to avoid problems with other equipment I have. Printer is fast and will even print on both sides of paper without having to put page back in. Took a little time to figure out the scan document to email it. Glad I stuck with Cannon.

Great product & bang for the buck
Date: December 24, 2009
Pros: Compact Design, Easy Setup, Low Ink Consumption, Sharp Tones & Colors, easy to use
Cons: scanning is a bit slow
We purchased a PIXMA MP640 to replace a troublesome HP all-in-one injet printer. The intruction manual is very user friendly and easy to understand and follow. Set up of the printer and wireless access took 30 minutes from start to finish. The quality of printed photos is excellent. Printing is fairly quiet & the menu is very intuitive to use. The two sided printing is a real plus. I would reccomend this to anyone wanting a very good all in one at a very reasonable price.

Canon rocks
Date: December 24, 2009
Pros: reliable, Compact Design, Easy Setup, durable, Sharp Tones & Colors, easy to use
Cons: paper trays take a lot of desk space.
I have just purchased this printer, to replace my Canon 6600D, which shares many of the same features. I have, through many years, been VERY happy with the Canon printers I have had, both as photo printers and with text. They all use many ink tanks, but Canon is not as outrageous in cost as HP or Epson, so I have never strayed from Canon inks. Networking of this printer is great, and so is the auto-duplexing. Saves much paper. The large screen is a bleassing for anyone who does not want to print from the computer! The photoprint software is also terrific.

excellent product for the money
Date: December 7, 2009
Pros: reliable, Sharp Tones & Colors, fast print speed, easy to use
Cons: Difficult Setup, High Ink Consumption
Easy to use printer. Have used all the functions from scanning, copying and printing. Good clear photos. It was abit difficult to get up and running with it but overall I am very pleased with it. The inks are abit pricey but as I have gone through 4 packs of the color inks, obviously I use it alot. I do business cards, brochures, greeting cards, photos etc. and have been pleased with both the quality and the speed. It's just like anything new, just takes abit to get used to. I wish the ink cartridges held more so that I didn't have to change them so often, but other than that it's a great product.

Great all purpose and graphics machine
Date: November 19, 2009
Pros: Easy Setup, easy to use, reliable, Sharp Tones & Colors
Cons: High Ink Consumption, no cd/dvd capability
Likes:
Quick. Quiet. Reasonable to operate...inks could be a little large capacity. Wireless works with My two Macs and and our 3 other Windows machines. Haven't tried scanner yet.
On screen and computer print controls easy to use.
Dislikes:
Ink capacity. Bottom paper loader jams from time to time. My be from static. Easy to unjam and continue. No CD/DVD printer capability.
I have gotten great results on photos on this machine. I have had the best luck exporting/saving my images or documents to PDF and them sending to the Canon. Try it..always great results!
Great for home use and semi-pro photography.
