System Requirements & Camcorder Compatibility
Canon's DV Messenger2 software allows you to take full advantage of Microsoft Windows XP's Messenger program by adding one important element - your Canon DV camcorder. Simply connect your camcorder to your computer's IEEE1394 terminal to create a videoconferencing studio at home, the office, or anywhere. Instead of just typing a message, you can have a face-to-face conversation, making your on-line chats interactive and fun. Zoom in for a closer look, adjust focus, and control your camcorder's playback functions through your computer. Even more exciting, you can also control your friend's camcorder. See an image or movie clip you like? Use DV Messenger2 to easily transfer files from your friend directly to your computer.
When used in combination with the Optura Xi or Optura 300, you have even greater flexibility for a truly remarkable Internet Video experience.

To use DV Messenger2, you must have the Windows XP operating system installed along with Windows Messenger 4.5.
If you use a router to connect to the Internet, please note that your router must be UPnP (Universal Plug and Play) compatible.
Also note the following requirements:
NET PASSPORT registration (you may use a current account or create a new one)
A broadband Internet connection (such as Cable, DSL, ISDN, or similar) is highly recommended
A global Internet Protocol address
A bridge type connection or use of an UPnP router
No personal firewall system (If you have one installed, it must be temporarily disabled while using DV Messenger2).

128MB or more (256MB or more is recommended).
