Pros: Compact Design, durable, Fast Connectivity, High resolution, High-speed scanning, easy to use
Cons: none
I've had this product for about 5 years. No problems what so ever! Excellent great looking, attractive, light and reliable machine. Quality stuff! Easy set-up, connections. Using for scanning photos and documents. Will buy Cannon product again. Already own i860 Printer (5 years w/no problems) and PowerShot SD750. Great stuff...

Pros: durable, High resolution, easy to use, lightweight
Cons: lid not suitable for copying book pages
Multifunctional units incorporating printer, copier, fax machine and scanner seem to be all the rage but sometimes simple is better.
the LiDE 35 is lightweight and USB powered so I can easily move it between my computer to my wife's or daughter's computer. The Canonscan software and driver works across Vista (wife), XP (me) and Windows Me (daughter) platforms.
The scanner bed hold large papers in excess of 9" X 13" so I was able to copy large documents like merit awards, my college degree and family portraits.
Unlike many other softwares, the Canonscan software can be set up so it is not lurking in the background eating up resources all the time. This is important if you have an older computer like my daughter uses.
Canon really supports their products. This scanner replaced an older scanner that developed an air leak in the scanning chamber causing the underside of the glass to become discolored. Canon was VERY supportive of my efforts to diagnose the issue.
The only cons I have are (1) the scanner lid does not have an accordian fold to the hinge so copies of book pages are a little weak due to light interference and (2) the scanner requires calibration if it has set unused for more than a month.
After losing my job I needed something to copy papers so I could present my credentials to prospective employers. I can perform scanning tasks faster with my LiDE 35 scanner FASTER than my wife can with her multifunctional unit. The copied papers can be stored as a pdf file for secure, easy and professional way to present the information to a prospective employer.
The Canon LiDE 35 meets my needs at a VERY reasonable cost.

Pros: durable, Fast Connectivity, easy to use
Cons: Slow Connectivity, Flimsy Construction
This scanner works to this day. It has survived 4 moves across the country in boxes that were nearly totalled. Contrary to the previous reviewer, it has worked in all versions of leopard, including the last I'm using (10.5.8)

Pros: Compact Design, durable, easy to use, High-speed scanning, Fast Connectivity, High resolution
Cons: Large Footprint
This scanner couldn't be easier to use even for people who have never used one before. It does anything the common user would want, and it is priced below almost any other scanner out there. Best of all, it is powered from the USB port so no tangle of wires and excellent energy efficiency. Highly recommended.

I have had this scanner for several years, it works great. It does everything I have ever needed it to and I have never had a problem with it. The copy function is nice, it will scan and automatically print. Would highly recommend this product.
