I've had this little camera now for over 3 years and although it's not perfect,it's great for my basic needs. I have no problem with battery usage, however, I always take the batteries out if I'm not using it that day. I've also accidentally left them in for a couple days and had no ill effects. It's the perfect size, big enough that I don't forget it somewhere and small enough to fit in a pocket or small waistpouch when trekking. The only complaint I have is that night images done with the flash aren't great. I also really don't use the video much.

This camera isn't of bad price but I agree with the other review, battery life is horrible. I seem to change them all the ime. Also they start going into a white image after awhile, which it seems might have been on one of the camera recalls. I think for an someone who isn't making a living of the photography or trying to make a perdect scrapbook then this would work. Then again if money is tight then this is a cheaper camera that will work for you for a while. Any camera to capure a moment is better (if it works) than not a picture at all.

Pros: Lightweight/Portable, Simple controls/menu, easy to use
Cons: Poor image quality, Poor Low-Light Performance, Short battery life
It's a good camera for someone who doesn't care about the quality of the pictures and wants a cheap camera. I've had this camera for 3+ years, and frankly, I can't stand using it anymore. Yes, it's easy to use, but it runs out of battery so quickly. I find myself changing the batteries all the time. The pictures are often blurry, even when flash is used. In fact, the flash distorts the pictures more than anything else. I can't even begin to describe the disappointment I feel every time I take pictures with this camera -- the pictures look okay on the tiny display, but look downright awful when they're uploaded on the computer. Even outdoor pictures are only halfway decent. The camera was cheap, and the quality of the photos I got was cheap. I don't think I'll be buying another Canon.

Pros: good battery life, Good Low-Light Performance, Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, durable, Lightweight/Portable, Simple controls/menu, easy to use, good looking
I have owned dozens of digital cameras. from 1 MP models to my 12MP DSLR. No camera has amazed me more than this little wonder. I bought it after reading reviewers rave about it's shoot it and forget it capability. And that pretty much sums it up. 99+% of the time this little point & shoot gets a great image, indoors or out. Fits in a shirt pocket. Amazing battery life. Just a great little digital camera. I recommend it HIGHLY!!!

Pros: easy to use, Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, Good Low-Light Performance, Lightweight/Portable
Cons: Dim LCD
For the price and size this is an amazing machine. Even though I have had the camera for several years there are still new things to be learned, and photo quality never ceases to amaze. . It seldom fails to get a great picture no matter what you try to do. I have a more expensive DSLR but the 430 is so convenient I often take it. Many features, excellent photos. What more could you ask? and it fits in a pocket.
