Cons: kids move fast. this camera is a little too slow
I have used this camera since my first grandson was born 4 years ago. It was a great help especially with the big screen on the back, for us older folks. It takes great pictures and they are wonderful for editing, cropping, etc. Nature photos come out sharp both in closeup (individual flower blossoms) and distance (scenery). The photos upload to my website just great and look good in prints that I send to my mother (great-grandma). Even us untechnological older folks above fifty can use it easily to do just about anythig we want! Have fun with yours.

Pros: easy to use, Simple controls/menu, Nice features/settings, Bright LCD, excellent image quality, Lightweight/Portable, good battery life, durable
Cons: Complicated controls/menu
The camera that is in the pocket takes the most pictures, and this one takes great pictures. Cons: a wider lend would be nicer. Pro: using the optical viewfinder and saving batteries. With a little care in composition, and focusing and metering on off-centre subjects, this takes completely satisfying pictures.

This camera is fab. I bought it 3 years ago and it is still going strong! I usually take it out for pics when I go out, ie bars, parties etc.... even after spilling a long island on it--- the zoom button is alittle sticky but it works like a charm! It has put up with a lot over the past 3 years, but everything still works fabulously. I cant believe it. Look no further people, Canon is a very durable, well worth the price.. I stand by their name and will never buy another brand of electronic unless it is Canon baby. Hope this review helps.... dont stress, trust canon!
I LOVE THIS CAMERA AND WOULDN'T TRADE IT FOR ANYTHING ELSE!!!! My husband purchased this camera when we started going together over 3yrs ago and when we got married I rarely used my own camera, as this camera has many features and outstanding quality!! I had my cousin take snapshot pics at our wedding and some of the pics from this camera turned out better than the professional photographer's photos!! We've used this camera for the beach, outdoors, scenic pics, children, sports and more!! So many features(including making the skin darker/lighter, adding/taking away colors, ect...) and is easy to use once you have it figured out! Does awesome close ups!! We do lots of Ebay and also send lots of pics to out of state relatives, and the pics are so easy to upload and have great quality on the web and on emails!!!
Does video clips with great quality without slowing anything down as some cameras tend to do!! Never really had a problem with red eye with any of the many different settings this camera offers!
After using this camera for over 3 yrs we really have no complaint except that the battery life tends to not be very long, but we used the camera pretty much everyday & this didn't happen until after using it for about 2 yrs and then bought another battery, but charger works good and usually charges the batteries within an hour!! And, we often wished we had a little more zoom, but this still does great zoom as long as you use just the optical zoom! We are now having to get a different camera as ours was recently lost on a trip, and we are just sick, as no other cameras we have ever used compared to this one ~ and I'm not joking either ~ I love taking pics and have loved using this camera and all its wonderful easy to use features!!!

Cons: zoom switch stoped working
we bought ours in early 2007 i think or late 2006 but it still is working great. focuses very fast. I take drive by shootings on long trips and all my pictures come out pretty good. The only problem is the zoom thing is broken not off but you have to hold it down and turn it because the sensor went out on it or something.

I spent several hours researching digital cameras online, and I decided on the SD600. I use my camera so much that the labels are wearing off. I suppose I will have to replace it some day -- I will look no further than Canon!

Pros: easy to use, Simple controls/menu, Bright LCD, excellent image quality, Good Low-Light Performance, Lightweight/Portable, good battery life, durable
Cons: need more power zoom
Had this camera for years. Someone around the house dropped it with the zoom out and missed my zoom up. I have bought two other camera's by canon. Pay lot more money. Better zoom. But the quailty of the picture on this one can not be beat. Wish it had a more powerfull zoom. I would never buy another camera if it did. But to get the zoom. I have to settle for less. This is the best little camera you can buy.
My only issue with this camera is the location and type (slide bar) switch used to select the photo, video or view, mode.
The switch will move when the camera is pulled out of the case or pocket.
Not a major problem, but one needs to check location of switch prior to using this very excellent camera.

I wish I could be paid commission on the number of friends who have purchased this camera or the new model after seeing the quality of my pictures and the small size and easy to use. I've taken in my fanny pack to all ends of the earth. I can pull it out and tuck it away without loosing a shot. the video is unbelievable. great quality picture and sound.

I got this camera in November 2006 after my old one died on me..... and over 2 years later, I am still absolutely in love with it! I'm thinking of upgrading to an SLR - something simple to start with.... but I will ALWAYS keep this camera. I carry it around with me in my purse almost every day - battery life is fantastic, photo quality is outstanding...... Everyone is always amazed how great my pictures come out - especially considering it is a simple point and shoot camera. If this one ever dies on me, I'll surely upgrade to a new one in the same class as this one. It's always a good idea to have a point-and-shoot. If you are looking for a great camera for a good price, check this line out! I have absolutely no complaints!

Pros: easy to use, Simple controls/menu, Bright LCD, excellent image quality, good battery life
I bought the SD600 in '06 after doing a some research on point & shoot digital cameras, and using lots of friends' digital cameras (figuring out what I did or didn't like about them).
As an avid scrapbooker, I appreciate that it can fit right in my pocket, or purse, so I always have it available.
The Christmas after I bought this camera, I had three friends who requested it (and got it!) as a present. They all loved the LCD screen size, the quality of pictures, and the ease of use.
Since then, I've had many friends purchase the newer models in the PowerShot line, directly from being so pleased with my little SD600. It's been a great buy!
It also takes pretty good underwater pictures (with the additional casing, of course). I was able to get some very good pics of the stingrays I saw while diving - which was a fantastic bonus - in addition to the coral and such. :-)
I purchased this camera a few years ago and it has not let me down. It is a point and shoot camera but takes pictures almost as good as some SLR cameras. The LCD is bright and it has many features, some of which an average person may never use. It has adjustable settings for exposure and other light settings but sadly it is not possible to change the F-stop or focus manually.
The only con is the way that the film speed, ISO, works to stabilize the pictures. A higher film speed means taking clear pictures that would normally be blurry. Unfortunately, it means that the picture will be grainer. It is a small price to pay for a nicer looking picture, especially with the large resolution of the raw picture, but don't expect to take award winning photos. This is especially noticeable when the pictures are zoomed in, but when they are not, it is hardly noticeable if at all.
While that may sound like a big con, it really is not. I would actually recommend this camera to anyone, from pro to amateur photographer, because of its ease of use and spectacular results. At times the camera comes so very close to SLR quality but it will never make it. So, if you want to impress your friends with pictures that you took by just clicking a button, this camera is for you. If you are a pro and want a casual camera, this is for you but it is not an SLR.
I love my camera and it goes almost everywhere with me. It fits in my pocket and the only way I would get better pictures is by paying hundreds more.

Pros: easy to use, Simple controls/menu, Nice features/settings, Bright LCD, excellent image quality, Lightweight/Portable, good battery life, fast recycle time between shots
Cons: none
One of the big complaints with point and shoot digital cameras is that you press the button and the camera sits and thinks amd adjusts and then takes the picture. Meanwhile the cute moment passed and the shot is worthless. These cameras, specificaly the SD line, work much faster. Aim at the subject, press the button half way. Once the subject like your baby girl smiles, press the button the rest of the way down and you instantly get the perfect shot. No hesitation at all. The lense is good, the lcd is very good, the battery life is fantastic and it's size is perfect. I had my sd600 for more than 2 years and the original battery still recharges quickly (1 hour) and lasts all day- maybe 200 - 300 shots sometimes! the newer cameras are even better with more features. Simply put, I love this camera!

This is a great camera. I brought it two yrs ago and its a 6 mexapix but takes great pictures. Second you can record and plug it up to the TV and watch your videos in color. Some digitals have this feature but in black and white. Last it comes with rechargeable batteries and as long as you have a good SD card you can take as many pics as you want. This camera is so reliable and its not made cheap like a lot of cameras on the market.

Pros: eye view, water case avbl.
Wow! I researched the heck out of cameras to find the one that had it all. I found it here. You won't regret this purchase. I even bought another one for my spouse. We tell all are friends and family about this one. Trust me. It has an eye view when your in the sunlight. A great size screen. Best of all you can get a water proof case. I used it in Hawai and in Australia. Its a must have.
