Pros: good battery life, Great sound/audio, Compact Design, Easy TV Connectivity, easy to use, cheap! student use
Cons: Poor Low-Light Performance, tripods mount plastic
I love this camera for my students. Even though Mini DV is out the door. I will say my one complaint is the Tripod mount it is made of plastic and breaks! BAD! My students, not the most coordinated people always, struggle to put on the tripod mount, and just the little over tighten and it will strip the mount. Not sure who's idea was to make it a plastic piece. Please make a hard drive version of this camera, or SD card version, simple, compact, mic plug input, and sturdy. With a metal tripod mount of course. 3 Star rating is primary because of the tripod mount, I have 7 out of 16 cameras that are now striped. I would give it a 4 or 5 out of 5. Camera image isn't spectacular, but as a teaching tool for majority of student work, it works.

This camera was purchased for us at least 12 years ago when our 2nd child was born, and up until last night it worked perfectly! It is so easy to use, has simple menus, and has really good miniDV quality movies.
I really liked how it connected to my MAC, into iMovie, and was completely automated from within iMovie. I imported movies without any fuss or hassle.
I realize I have waited years to review this, but when I think of how many years I used this camera without a single problem EVER, I am very impressed, and will purchase another Canon to replace it if I can't get this one fixed.

Nothing to add, the quality speaks for it self. Perfect for daily use, don't need anything else. I use it on my motorcycle wokks fine, even got wet once suffered a bit of a nervous breakdown got it dry with a hair blower at hotel at still works fine.
