Pros: durable, High Quality Output, fast print speed
Cons: Large Footprint, Difficult Setup, poor value on ink, poor documentation
I purchased this all-in-one when it was first release, however; I would not buy it at it's current suggested retail price either. The overall quality of the machine is good.
That said there are a number of issues. Setup on certain operating systems was a pain, requiring me to download additional drivers and start with the machine plugged in via USB. I also had to figure out wireless scanning ton my own because the machine's documentation lacked the necessary instructions.
Secondly, there is the ink issue. This machine is a terrible value on ink, even on economy settings it burns through the cartridges. Also, it requires that all 5 ink cartridges be installed in order to print. Despite having 2 black cartridges the machine will not print in black or greyscale if the large cartridge (220-BK) is empty. This means that if all the other cartridges (black (221BK), magenta, yellow, & cyan) are full the machine will not print

Pros: High Quality Output, fast print speed, easy to use
Cons: unreliable, Flimsy Construction
I would not recommend this particular MX 860 to anyone as it burns through ink like there is no tomorrow and has already burned through its printer head after only a couple thousand copies, at the most. I have been very disappointed. It is easy plug and use, but that does not outweigh the negatives for me.

ugh, I hate this thing.
I spend a lot of time getting it to work, finally it does, but by the next time I need to print, it seems to not be working.
the instructions for the driver install are not complete and the software does not follow the instructions.
I'm sorry, and embarassed that I bought this product.

Pros: reliable, Easy Setup, durable, Small Footprint, High Quality Output, fast print speed, easy to use, great price
After careful and thorough research, I followed the sales associate's recommendation (and my heart), and purchased the Canon MX860 all-in-one printer. I've been a loyal customer of Canon products for more than 20 years, but this was my first Canon printer. I absolutely love all the features of this printer. It's so easy to use, even an amateur like me had no problems figuring everything out. Of course, knowing the online support was right at my fingertips, helped boost my confidence. I'm very happy I chose this printer, and stuck with a name I trust. Thanks, Canon...another winner!!

Pros: excellent packaging
Cons: wont work if 1 of 2 black inks is empty
I love so much about this printer. It's a fax, scanner and wireless color printer. It has made me very happy. I can't give it five stars, though, because, while it has two different black ink cartridges, it refuses to operate if even one of them is empty, and worst of all, IT WONT EVEN SCAN TO A FILE IF ONE OF THE BLACK INK CARTRIDGES IS EMPTY. I feel like my beloved printer has betrayed me. That is so stupid.

This is my second all in one Pixma. BUT- this one has been nothing but trouble. Nothing ever works. Support had to teach me how to start the print spooler which I have to do with every use. Now it won't scan or print, it does still work as a copy machine. I hope this saves you a lot of aggravation, and money.

Easy to setup, never jammed or any problems. I fax, copy books, print and scan all the time and never have issues. I love that the ink cartridges have a light showing me which cartridge to replace, and the integrated online ordering is convenient. I wish the paper tray held more paper, but overall this has been a very reliable and easy to use printer.

Pros: reliable, Easy Setup, durable, High Quality Output, easy to use
Cons: expensive ink
I've been delighted with this printer! Almost never jams, high quality photo printing, as well as document printing. As with most inkjet printers, the ink is expensive, but that's my only gripe. Wireless connection is remarkably easy to set up, and has proven very reliable. I've been using the scanner heavily, and it works very well, even with automatic feed and odd sized documents. We have several computers and laptops scattered around the house - and the wireless connection works well for all.

Pros: reliable, Easy Setup, durable, High Quality Output, photographs
This printer does more than I’ll ever need for the home. This is more like a small business or home office printer.
The print function works smooth and fast enough for my household needs. I like that it is able to do double-sided printing. This saves on the paper.
The scanner works great and will work long periods with no problem. I had twenty years of tax returns and I scanned them all in a single run and never had a glitch.
The reason I purchased this was for the photo capacity. It makes outstanding photos. I started in hobby photography with film and a darkroom in the basement making my own color prints.
When I went digital I was looking for a printer that could make quality prints. I might be able to do better but I don’t know what it would be in this price range. With a total of 2,368 colors and a resolution of 9600 x 2400 dpi1 the pictures come out as good as most of the pictures I made from film in the darkroom. It is capable of printing wallet size up to 8.5”x11”. This printer will do RAW photos with the Easy-PhotoPrint EX free download from Canon.

Pros: reliable, Easy Setup, durable, easy to use
Cons: Large Footprint, slow warm up
I've owned this printer for about 2 years. I just use it for printing basic documents, never for photos. Not saying the printer is bad for that, but for the cost of the ink I would just assume pay walmart to print my photos.
Pros: I like that it can be connected to my home network, no wires and no mess awesome. Scans a lot of papers quickly. I bought a few homes over the years and the printer has come in handy for that. I also like that I can scan documents right to a USB thumb drive.
Cons: The print speed is reasonably fast once it's warmed up. It's the warm up part that takes for-ev-er. Plan on waiting several minutes to get the first page out. The ink is very expensive (as most ink is), but it always stings to pay more dollars in ink than the printer is worth. The last thing is the paper tray. Not a huge deal, but it is clunky and sometimes hard to pull out and back in.
Overall: This printer works great for me because most of my use is scanning and not printing. If I printed more the price of ink would really drive me crazy. I don't bash the print quality just the high cost to do it.
Btw - the set up was easy for me. The network set up might be a little tricky for some, but it's not overly difficult. Just follow the instructions and you'll get it.

Pros: reliable, Easy Setup, durable, High Quality Output, fast print speed, easy to use
Cons: Large Footprint, High Ink Consumption
Used this printer for about seven years and was comletely happy with it. Got great picture prints. I'm not a pro, but I liked the pints that I got. Made all of my greeting cards. Printed a lot of special projects, such as menues, name tags, etc, and found the printer very easy to use. The only down sides were the original cost, which was about average at the time of purchase, and ink sonsumption. Had the printer not been destroyed by lightening, I'd still be using it.

Thi sprinter worked fine for about a year, then poof! I constantly get "Ink running low" or "Cartridge out of ink" messages when there is clearly no problem with the ink the cartridges.
Not only the worst printer I've ever owned, but possibly one of the worst products I've ever owned.

Pros: excellent phone support, nice features and software
Cons: 1st page takes way too long to print., wireless needs to be less complicated to set up.
When it is ready to print the first page after it starts up, took it 2 minutes and 40 seconds to print the first page. It goes through a whole lot of gyrations getting ready to print. Never had a printer take so long to print. After that, it is fairly normal. Getting it set to wireless mode took forever and very confusing. Like the software, with the ability to preview the first print page Settings have some nice features for printing. Like the document feeder. And ability to send documents as a PDF file. Need to really go through heck trying to figure out how to send the PDF document in compressed format so it does not take a huge size file.

I purchased this printer a few years ago for my MacBook. I had no trouble getting it set up to the wireless network. Once I had it on my network, it was easy to set up my other Mac's. When I switched wireless routers, I had to add it to the new network but had a little trouble on the new network. I called Canon and they were very helpful in getting me up and running again. I recently bought a new MacBook Pro and I was able to set up both the printer and scanner to perform wirelessly on my MBP. The driver downloads on the Canon support site are very easy to find and download.

A real piece of garbage! Nothing about this thing to like. Directions are worthless, connectint to wireless network is a joke. Now the dran thing has stopped printing colors. I have done all their head cleaning tricks and the printing has gotten worse. Of course it is out of warranty, so taking it to be fixed would cost more the just replacing the junk. Bright side is, I get to replace this piece of junk. Good bye Canon.
