I bought a D10 because I spend a lot of time outdoors, and I wanted a camera that could handle winter weather. After using my D10 for several years I have been very happy with the picture quality as well as the movies I make.
On 1/27/2012 after ice climbing I discovered the camera came out of the case while walking down a canyon. Unable to find it in the snow I went home. Last weekend 6/10/2012 I went back into the canyon to look for it. To my surprise I found it laying next to a bush. I picked it up turned it on and took a picture. Not only did it take the picture but it downloaded all the pictures from my ice climb 5 months before when I got home. It still works perfect. The camera has been at 7,000 feet for 5 months, through 4 snow storms, 2 rain storms, single digit tempertures and now laying in the sun for several months. I don't know what more anyone could put this camera through. If you need a camera that can take the weather this camera has been tested.

Pros: Nice features/settings, Bright LCD, Simple controls/menu, easy to use
Cons: does not float
I brought daughter #1 a D10 and had to buy another for daughter #2. They love 'em and both take great pics & videos. We own kayaks and spend lots of time in the locals creeks & rivers. Love the toughness and the beautiful underwater pics. One D10 looks like it spent a tour of duty in Iraq but it has never failed. One was "lost" in the freezer for a full month and when found it took a picture right out of the freezer. It thawed out and works fine. They are worth the fancy price.

Camera takes good photos if the LCD worked longer then a couple of months. Now the camera is worthless. Of course warranty would have fixed it but the long phone call wait time was not worth this horrible camera.

Pros: fast cleaning
After 10,500 shots I am ready to say the D10 works :). River trips, snorkeling, backpacks, camping, hikes, it did it all with no failure to fire. Nice colors, decent resolution. It outlasted three other small cameras. For GPS I just noted coordinates from a separate unit and added geotags later if needed. Some cameras won't work at low temps or even below room temperature but this one goes skiing and gets up early on hunting trips. I stepped on several other cameras and broke the lens covers, some fell off dashes, some dropped on pavement, but so what with the D10. Best is that it still has no dust in the lens where others have flare and spots from debris collected quickly. Nice not to fumble with lens caps in a hurry. I clean it with a shirt tail and no scratches or fingerprints that stay for long.

I love this little camera. I bought after reading Consumer Reports review and user reviews on Amazon. It's a perfect size for me. Fits easily in a purse. It was hard to find a case that fit.

Cons: doesn't work in water
I bought this camera when preparing for a trip to the Caribbean. Everything looked great when I got the camera and tested at home. As soon as I got in the salt water the rear display quit working. I got back on the boat and tried a few things to determine that the camera was still taking photos even though I couldn't see them. This brings new meaning to the term Point and Shoot. After a day out of the water the display came back on but but quit again as soon as I got in the water again. I sent the camera back to Canon when I got home and they sent me a refurbished camera to replace my new one. The new D10 did work well on a trip to the Grand Canyon but it also died when I took it on a rafting trip in Idaho. I think I took a total of 500 photos with it.

I bought this camera specifically for snorkeling because the disposable film cams are terrible. It works well for us! HAs survived two trips to Mexico with daily snorkel trips. I often dive to 15 ft to get pics and have had no problems with my D10. I've gotten some good pics with it form those trips. I was pleasantly surprised to find it takes nice pice out of the water too! FWIW, it's also survived a number of trips to rivers where it's been dunked repeatedly as well as a couple swimming pools. My only complaints were no HD video, and the body being a bit bulky. However, the bulky body does make it easy to handle underwater.

Cons: can at times be little slow to focus under water.
Our family loves this camera. Took video while scuba diving (shallow dives), snorkling and playing in the surf. Takes great pictures under water or above. Have taken incredible pictures in the surf, in water caves, etc. that I never could have gotten with my 7D.

I was very pleased with this camera until I used it under water (snorkeling, so not very deep). It takes good pictures and has good features. However, the first time I used it under water the display stopped working. The camera still takes pictures, but you cannot see what you are taking a picture of and cannot change any settings, so the camera is essentially worthless now.

Pros: Bright LCD, good button placement, versatility, quick startup, easy to use, crisp pictures, nice battery life, kid friendly
Cons: limited zoom, slightly bulky shape
I researched underwater cameras to use on my trip to Puerto Rico and looked at some other brands besides Canon (to give them a fighting chance). I chose this one because of it's range (up to 33ft underwater), 12.1 megapixels, durable design, wide temperature range, and shock resistant abilities.
This camera made a great companion as I climbed waterfalls in the rainforest, and snorkeled off the coast. It has a great battery life and takes amazing pictures in and out of the water. Its range of settings lets you take full advantage of many different scenes, from low-light to bright.
It not only functions well as an adventure camera, but it is also great to carry with you anywhere you go. Due to its underwater abilities, you can take it to the beach even if you don't plan on going in the water (no worries about sand and salt spray), or where ever you want (no worries about getting caught in a rainstorm!)
The only drawbacks are its slightly bulky design; it won't fit in your pocket as easily as others can. Also, the outer case scratches easily- this is only a cosmetic problem. I do wish the zoom was better, which seems to be available in the D-20 model with a 5x zoom.
One word of advice is to soak it well for a few hours in fresh water immediately after exposing it to salt. When you do soak it, make sure to take off any wrist lanyards attached to one of the 4 corner attachment sites. (I didn't, and the little attachment at the end of the lanyard became corroded because the fresh water could not get in to wash out the salt, and it almost became permanently attached.) If sand gets on any outside part of the case, rinse it off rather than trying to wipe it with your hand- this could lead to scratches. If sand or moisture gets into the compartments, remove it with a q-tip. MAKE SURE the rubber seals are lint and particle free when you close the battery and computer attachment compartments. I suspect the failure to do this is how some people end up with 'leaky' cameras. Water pressure will take advantage of any gaps, no matter how small.
Besides the superior designs which have made me appreciate Canon, their service department is the best I have ever encountered. They are very quick, honest, and if you have a legit problem with their product, they will fix or replace it quickly.

Pros: very good water sports camera
My Wife and I are kayakers. I was shooting very good camera and it started raining. $300 down the tube. My wife could not use this camera anyway. So we looked and said we would try the d10.. It can rain on us all day long and a little water from the paddles don't hurt anything either. For us it is a very good water sports camera. My wife can even operate it. Thank you cannon.

Today I fell hard on cement taking pictures of my daughter & baby with her digital camera & my canon powers-shot in my hands, I have to replace hers, but mine works after that hard hit ! Just why I went the extra mile & bought this camera, I knew I wanted to snorkel & boat without worry. I'm still learning how to use all the extras of this camera.

Pros: rugged, waterproof, quick startup time, customizable settings, high quality pictures, excellent qualitiy underwater scene setting
Cons: Short battery life, limited zoom
I just got back from a long weekend in Yosemite National Park with my Canon Powershot D10, and it's all that it's cracked up to be. I've had this camera for almost two years now, and it does exactly what I want. It is a little large, not quite comfortably fitting into a pants pocket, but I'll deal with the inconvenience.
I travel extensively, and I don't baby my gear. If it can't handle my lifestyle, I don't want it. Among other things, I'm a long distance backpacker and a scuba diver. I go to cold, dusty, rough, remote places, as well as the standard spin around town. I need a versatile, high-performing camera to fill in the gaps where my SLR is too bulky, too heavy or too fragile to go. I've taken the D10 diving (down to 12 meters, oops) and gotten amazing pictures that were the envy of my peers (even compared to someone shooting with a G12 in an underwater housing!). I've been dunked in a stream overflowing with snow melt, and the camera hasn't missed a beat. I throw it in my backpack for three days in the backcountry, and it takes amazing pictures.
The startup time is negligible and the features are all familiar from my Canon SLR. I shoot on program mode, and modifications and settings are quick and easy. It's not as customizable as I'd like (can't manually set exposure time or aperture). I'd love to be able to attach a remote to it for some time-lapse or super-long exposures. The zoom range isn't too impressive, although it does have digital zoom (I usually ignore this feature, since I think quality dwindles). Battery life does leave something to be desired, especially in the areas that I take it. I need to get a second battery. I'd love it if this camera could charge off USB. All that being said, I've taken some truly amazing professional-quality pictures in places that don't welcome professional-quality gear. I love my Powershot D10 and don't go anywhere without it.

Pros: easy to use, waterproof, durable in all conditions, quality photos, low maintenance
I bought this camera two years ago with the rope attachment accessory kit (which is nice if you don't want to worry about a bulky bag, just sling the camera over your shoulder and have easy access for on the go photos). GREAT BUY!
It has served me well through all my outdoor adventures from, snorkeling, kayaking, caving, fishing in the rainy weather of Alaska, wintery condions of water fowl season, the hot dunes outside Dubai, touristing, camping, and just everyday fun no matter the weather or location...WITHOUT getting damaged (and I'm rough on a camera), or loss in quality of photos.
If you are somebody who wants to capture the best moments in life in the outdoors, this camera is perfect.

Cons: not the fastest pictures
I bought this camera and we use it all the time! The kids love playing with it underwater, pictures (especially outdoors) are truly awesome, especially for a point and shoot!!!! Highly recommended. The kids drop it sometimes (it happens) and it is truly made very well. I have a fancy 40D which is big and heavy, so more times than not we grab the D10 beach, pool, skiing you name it.
