We were really excited about getting a color laser printer, but over the last 2 years this printer has been a very big disappointment. The toners for the printer are way to expensive for the number of prints. Color prints are way off and can not be used for presentations. The controls are not intuitive. Nothing on the printers works easy. I have bought my last set of 4 toners for the unit and will not buy anymore when the toner is gone and I will be buying another printer!!!

I hate this multi-function. I I bought this printer and it was delivered to my door and if I didn't live in NYC and it wasn't such a heavy piece of junk, I would have returned it they next day. I have a MAC and every software update something goes wrong with this printer. Never mind that the scan function has NEVER worked. The ink is expensive, it is BULKY and so difficult to figure out. Setting reset on their own, paper tray reset and all in all I feel like at times its possessed. Run away from the hunk of junk and buy something else!

Not pleased with this purchase. Every time you need to scan something you have to manually set up the device to remote scanning and then go back to your computer and scan it. Every time! I got a color laser just so that I can prepare color presentations and all the print out is coming out green. It cant be calibrated. it doesn't detect automatically between multi purpose tray and the fixed tray. you need to set up the source every time through the software. this machine is so much behind of it peers. It is very expensive for what this machine can offer. Outdated!!!

Pros: duplex printing
Cons: not durable, quirky user interface, difficult to understand manual
we've had good luck with another brand of printer but thought we'd give Canon a try because this printer had the features we were looking for at a good price.
In less than three years, we're needing to replace the fuser. Also, the replacement cartridges don't last long and cost an arm and leg, and we've had bad luck with remanufactured cartridges. And this is for a home office where we don't print that much, certainly less than 200 pages/month on average. When once in a blue moon we do need to print in quantity, the letter tray and autodocument feeder don't hold that many sheets. Will be going back to the other brand.

Pros: reliable, Easy Setup, durable, High Quality Output, fast print speed, easy to use
When looking at printers there seemed to be a significant price increase for "business" printers. The ones that were advertised for "home office" seemed cheaply made. I am glad I spent the extra money. It does everything I need done on a day to day basis. The extra featires that I might need I would only use once or twice a year and then at a significant price increase. I am in financial services so there is no shortage of paper that is REQUIRED to be printed. This printer is a workhorse.

Cons: poor quality
The printer and its software are poorly disigned. The predecessor to this printer was intuitive. One could scan from the computer without having to tell printer to scan from computer. Same for printing from manual feed.
My approx. year old printer is not failing to print from manual feed and does not seem to print from the lower tray. Yes, it says it is jammed. It is not. It is about one year old.

I am very satisfied with this printer. Laser print quality is excellent, and the scanner works very well. The automatic document feeder works very well for both scanning and copying (no jams yet and I have fed previously folded/creased paper with a modest level of straightening). I have computer connected via ethernet from wireless router and didn't experience any setup problems. The fit and finish are very good and it seems quite well built, so I believe it will be reliable in the long run.
It would be nice if it had double sided scanning, and the documentation could be a bit more straightforward. The paper out of the printer/copier has a slight curl to it, but is a minor niggle.
The printer represents excellent value. I would highly recommend this printer to other SOHO users and is a much better option than an ink jet based multifuntion printer for most business tasks. If you need photos, I would recommend single function inkjet printer.

Canon MP8350 is a great multifunction printer. The company needs to move forward and provide either smart phone printer app or the driver so other app developers can use it in their developeent. here i sit with a $700 printer and cannot print from my phone. Yes yes yes, i do recommend this printer to my friends and colleagues.

Network printing is OK. Scanning does not work in Mac OS X 10.7.2 and ScanGear_V150_MacOSX_us_EN.dmg
This is a really a fantastic multifunction printer - the best of its type that we've ever used. We are using this in a small office environment as a networked workgroup printer, fax machine, and light duty copier. Occasionally it gets used for scanning. It has performed flawlessly from day one doing everything we've asked of it from timesheets to promotional materials. We bought ours through CDW and it was the second imageCLASS device we had. It replaced a b&w copier/printer, two color inkjet printers, and a fax machine. It has performed better than everything it replaced combined. It also has a very nice Web console if you want to administer it remotely or across a VPN. If there is one minor down side to the device it might be toner cost which is probably competitive but a little pricey. Given its performance though, we're not complaining. I can't say enough good things about this multifunction device. A+++ job on this one Canon!

Pros: reliable, durable, High Quality Output, fast print speed, easy to use
Cons: Difficult Setup
I've owned many different printers (and computers) over the last 30 years. I've owned daisy-wheels, dot-matrix, laser, ink jet and all-in-one ink jets. I can't say that I've found one brand or type of printer that I really preferred until now.
I finally got fed-up with the cost of inkjet replacement cartridges and saw the Canon all-in-one marked down. IMHO, purchasing it was one of the best decisions that I've made in a long time.
Although the set-up was a little difficult (follow the directions!), once running I was impressed by the speed, quality and ease of use. For my money, most all-in-one printers are a dubious purchase. Some are easy to use, but have expensive replacement inkjet cartridges. The MF8350 was one of the easiest all-in-one printers (which are notorious for being quirky and difficult to use) to use with the reliability and speed, not to mention the cost saving of a laser printer.
While some might find the heaviness of the unit a problem, I considered it to be an indication of quality. The least reliable printers I've had have been some of the most expensive and least reliable ones.
This is my first experience with a Canon printer and I'm sure that it won't be my last.

Cons: Difficult to use, Slow Print Speed, Difficult Setup
The machine was presented to me when I bought it from the distributor as "wireless" which it's not. I have connected it to my wireless router though so am able to print wirelessly that way. I am highly disappointed with the scan feature, which does not work through the wireless router and has to be physically connected directly to the computer by a USB cable. This limitation might because I use a Mac instead of a PC, but none the less, it's very inconvenient. The print speed is slower than I thought it would be and it's constantly going into energy save mode, so whenever I need to print something it has to wake itself up before it will start to print. The print quality seems to be adequate, I haven't printed out a photo yet, but it also requires an external photo reader to read the memory chip from a camera. It would be much more convenient if it had the chip reader as a feature. This is an expensive machine and the replacement ink cartridges are ridiculously expensive. Every time you have to replace the ink cartridges it's as if you might as well buy a new machine because the expense is so high. If this machine wasn't so heavy that I can't lift it myself and I hadn't spent about 12 hours of my time getting it set up, I would return it immediately.

Cons: Difficult to use, unreliable
Scans single-sided originals well to USB thumb drive.
That's the only good thing I have to say.
Color matching is not good.
Outgoing faxes are touchy -- about 60% fail.
Printing is a nightmare. Printer constantly needs to be reset. PDFs have started only printing the background.
The printer says the toner is empty well before it is actually empty. This was confirmed by buying replacement chips elsewhere and getting double the use out of the toner cartridges.
Replacement toner costs more than the original printer.
It's expensive to run, hard to use, has a terribly user interface and worse manual.

Pros: reliable, durable, High Quality Output, fast print speed, paper handling, network friendly
Cons: Large Footprint, toner gauges, scanning controls
I was looking to replace mono laser MFP and injet with a single unit. The inkjet consumed way too much ink and constantly needed cleaning. The MF8350 offered great color output and speed. While pictures are not true photo quality, they are very sharp and clear and can be printed on various types of paper. It is necessary to run the calibration process whenever you initially set up or change toner cartridges or the color will not be good. Once I performed that step, the difference in the output quality for color prints was amazing. The unit is FAST and takes no time to warm up. Toner consumption has been reasonable and there have been no issues with maintenance. One complaint is that there are no gauges to tell the toner level. Just saying OK or low is not sufficient for knowing the level. It would seem that with all of the effort put into designing this printer, a gauge or bar graph would be really easy to include. The scanning is good quality but a little inconvenient from the desktop. The unit has to be set in a mode to receive scan commands from the printer panel. That seems unnecessary and was part of the reason for scoring the features lower. The scans are good once all of the settings are made. This is a user friendly issue as opposed to a quality issue. Overall, this is a great color printer that really excels for printing and copying.

Pros: Easy Setup, fast print speed, easy to use, good quality output
Cons: still color laser type output, toner not cheap.
Unpacked this printer yesterday and got it setup. Everything went smoothly - except when I did my first color print I was extremely disappointed. The color seemed washed out and lifeless. I was thinking that I had made a bad purchase, when i thought - maybe something just needs to be adjusted. In all my experience with Canon, I couldn't see them sending out a printer that would print this horrible. Well I went to color settings in the print driver - and noticed they had a Gamma adjustment. I set it to 1.4 - and suddenly wow... the prints actually matched what was on my screen. Maybe this is just and adjustment that needs to be made with Macs, but it made all the difference in the world. I didn't find anything about this in documentation... so I hope it helps someone with the same problem. Overall great print quality for a color laser ( still not inkjet perfect (I'm spoiled by my pixma pro) - but very fast and a lot less expensive per page. Great for small business.

Cons: Difficult to use, unreliable, bad colors, need 2 trips to scan over network, user menu is bogus, customer service unhelpful, poor value
Terrible features. Unit has useless network scanning, if any of the toner reaches the number limit you cannot print anything. Customer service cannot tell me why the how to use basic features. super expensive cost per copy. color is not accurate. The company I work for was in the process of purchasing a Canon production printer. I halted the order due to my recent purchase.
