Cons: video editing software, no cross computer platform video viewing
Fantastic product. I'm very pleased with the quality and richness of features and configurability. My only frustration is the video downloading and editing software is a bit clumbsy - it all works as advertised but it is not the most user friendly. As well, once a video is downloaded onto a particular operating system (e.g. Windows), it is not also viewable on another OS (e.g. MAC) without a significant amount of manual processing.

Pros: good battery life, Good Low-Light Performance, Easy Computer Connectivity, Great sound/audio, Accurate, Vivid Colors, Compact Design, excellent image quality, durable, Good Software Compatibility
I have had my hfs11 for about 6mo. now, I have completed 2 hd. movie projects of recent adventure travel. each is just over an hour in edited length. icould not be more pleased with the results in a variety of lighting conditions , low light, bright light indoors and out. ii edit the material in premier elements/windows 7 and output to 1080i blu-ray. what can i say it looks like the discovery channel on my 65" plasma tv.the owners manual isn't useable i downloaded the file from canon and had one printed/spiral bound from the pdf
i was sceptical at first about photography with the camera but now use it exclusively when traveling and the image quality is good even when enlarging to 2'x3'
I invested in 2 of the largest capacity batteries so with a total of 3 all day shooting isn't a problem when traveling. the 64gb hard drive has proved sufficient but as a precaution i got a 32gb sd card for photos and backup video.
I'm a diehard canon fan because of the high quality and usefulness of their products. wish list would be the capability to download video material to a mass storage device. go buy one you won't be dissapointed

Cons: Short battery life
Great Video quality. Especially outside. Inside you have to have the right lighting but that is expected. Takes pretty good photos as well. I was debating between this and the HFS10 but got this one instead because of the improved stabilization. Make sure you buy a battery though. The one supplied only last about an hour or so (But it has fast charging). This is well worth the money. Canon products last a long time as well. I've had mainly canon products for cameras and camcorders. So consider this!

Cons: pricey, optical zoom just 10x, software is horrible
This is my first Canon camcorder and I am very pleased. Great stability feature. More than enough room on the SSD drive. Connectivity with PC and HD TV just great. It was a very good buy.

Pros: good battery life, Good Low-Light Performance, Easy Computer Connectivity, Great sound/audio, Accurate, Vivid Colors, Compact Design, excellent image quality, durable, Good Software Compatibility, Ergonomic/comfortable to hold, Easy TV Connectivity, easy to use, good image stability, easy to use onboard guides
After spending several weeks in reading and checking various reviews, product specifications, on several brands of camcorders ranging from one thousand to five thousand dollars I found the Cannon VIXIA HF S11 to offer me more features than its competition.
It's compactness suprised me for what it does. Being retired shooting digital stills for a hobby has been exciting to say the least in our travels. Now I wanted something that would do the same in video to capture various sight seeing trips in HD video.
After purchase of the HF S11, I have been shooting with all the various settings in low light indoors since the weather has not made it attractive to hit the road. After shooting in video and camera mode of the chihuahua and cat of the house with various lighting and displaying it on our large screen HD TV, I was blown away by the sharpness, clarity, color displayed on the screen. You could count the hairs on the chihuahuas face. I'm very satisfied that this camera delivers. It iswhat I have been looking for the past two years. I would like for the manual to be in larger print would be my only wish since my eyes get tired easily reading small print.

Pros: Easy Computer Connectivity, Great sound/audio, Accurate, Vivid Colors, Compact Design, excellent image quality, Good Software Compatibility, Easy TV Connectivity, easy to use
Cons: Uncomfortable to hold, Short battery life, would prefer more switches for changing settings.
When you know what to do with a camera of any sort, then you know how to make the best of it. Having been a user of SLR's, DSLR's, and a variety of video cameras for many years, I know what it takes to make best use of the equipment I use. The Canon Vixia HFS11 is no different. A feature-rich little camera, with many capabilities normally found only in higher end cameras, I have been able to produce very high quality video in a variety of light conditions. The range of manual controls is just right for what I use this camera for, video journalism, and the range of accessories, particularly the DM100 microphone, are excellent additions to my kit.
I have never been a huge fan of on-screen menu systems, preferring a switch or a knob to change a setting. But the size of this camera means that many of the settings need to be adjusted via the LCD screen - it's OK as long as you think ahead before shooting.
Any serious camera user will have larger, spare batteries, so although the battery life of the included battery is not what I can use, I never expected it to be more than a back-up.

I don't know why everyone is complaining about the battery life- I have had the camera for a few months now and have used it a lot and I find the battery lasts just fine. Yes it needs to be recharged but how often to you film over an hour at a time? I certainly don't. The video quality is absolutely stunning- truly this is a camcorder that I can live with for a long time. I am so glad I waited and got this camcorder.

Pros: Easy Computer Connectivity, Great sound/audio, Accurate, Vivid Colors, excellent image quality, Good Software Compatibility, Ergonomic/comfortable to hold
Cons: Poor Low-Light Performance, Short battery life
This was my first HD camera that I ever purchased and I am glad that I did. The image quality is great. 1080 feature eats a lot of memory but worth it. I do recommend purchasing the extra life battery cause the one it comes with is junk. Overall this is a simple camera to use and it is almost like having a prosumer camera.
I would recommend using a tripod the IS feature isn't that great.

Good quality and small to carry every event, the bad part is the baterry you need to purchase an aditional battery,I recomend the BP-827 battery.
