I wanted a professional level camera that I could use, even though my skill level was minimal. I'm NOT disappointed at all. I've had SO MANY compliments about the pictures I've taken of my grandkids' sports and school related activities that I "almost" feel like a professional. I've taken thousands of pictures over a couple of years and it's as solid today as it was when I first purchased it.

choosing 60d over 650d/700d, i think this cam still a good choice even though its old, i like the photos coming out of the camera sharp and good colors, top lcd is very useful i hardly use the lcd screen for changing my settings, i also like its ergonomics; you just have to be familiar with it and you'll see, also viewfinder really bright compare to cameras with pentamirror vf, last the battery life "very solid" you'll never worry about it; and you can focus on taking photos

I purchased the 60D after owning the 40D and 50D, and was a little worried about the smaller body not being as user friendly as the older, larger one. But I for one like it better than the old style. It still fits my hand very well and doesn't seem as heavy, bulky to wear around your neck all day. There really isn't much gain in the detail of the pics as compared to the 50D,but the low light performance is much better. I do miss the joystick some, but the touch pad works fine after you get used to it. I don't miss the focus microadjust. because I never had a lense that needed it. Overall I'm very happy with the 60D. It's more of a trim to the size, and doesn't feel like a totally different camera line.

Bought this camera to upgrade from a Rebel XSi, and boy what a surprise. Camera is super fast, and pictures are pristine. The top display is really convenient, and the new camera software works great for frequently accessed menus and sub-menus.
Would deffinetly recommend as an upgrade over the T4i.
Have not used the Video portion of it, since Im not interested in this feature.

I purchased the 60D a year ago and it has been extremely handy as my backup and all around travel type camera. I noticed recently it had some dust spots on the sensor. I was surprised since I used L series lens on it and do not change any lens out in the field. A local shop cleaned the sensor for me fixing the problem. It is handy, great pictures and I have recommended it to more than one person I know.

Been anticipating buying this camera ever since it came out. So far I'm very pleased, however, I was disappointed when several white specs started showing up on my dark background images. One large one always in the same spot. Which after research, led me to believe there was dust on the sensor. I though, how is this possible? I was very meticulous in putting on the brand new lens for the first time. Couldn't have been more than a couple seconds between taking covers off. After doing a long programed sensor cleaning, problem was solved. No more white specs.
I read the camera comes with "Dust Delete Data" software that maps out stubborn dust particles and eliminates them from your image, which will inevitably happen with frequent lens changes, but hey Canon, dust on a brand new sensor?

This was my first DSLR and I'm so glad that it was. It's hard for me to pick and choose what to talk about because there's not one thing I don't appreciate about this camera. The swiveling screen has come in handy in situations where I can't see over crowds, so by tilting the screen down and holding the camera up I'm still able to get my shots. It takes great quality photos and I'd absolutely recommend this to any other amateur or beginner.

The vari-angle LCD is great and help a lot, Good Picture quality even in low lights. The LCD screen comes with an electronic level feature. This feature helps in leveling the camera. Another great feature of the canon 60d is the Dial lock which helps in preventing any unintentional change of the settings set by the user

I updated from the Rebel XS. This camera is a huge upgrade. As many other reviews say this is more of a Rebel on steroids than a traditional XXD series, but that's fine with me. I like the solid plastic feel and don't think the magnesium body would really make a difference. The integrated wireless flash function is great as well. Unless you need the higher burst rate of the 7D buy this one over any of the Rebel's.

I had two dslr before this one but this is the best DSLR I have ever owned! I have absolutely no complaints about this camera! It is perfect in everyway, by which I mean pictures and video. The quality of the finished work on this camera is spectacular! This camera will work for anyone, an amature or a professional. The tilt screen is amazing and very helpful. I thought I wouldn't put that screen to good use, but I do. This camera is such a quick and easy camera to work with. All the modes are super easy to understand to get yourself that perfect shot! I love the size of the camera as well. I'm a bigger guy with a pretty big hand, so it fits perfect for me.

Like the title says it was the right choice for me. I am moving up from the T1i and wanted a camera with higher image quality, better handling of higher iso and a price tag that wasn't going to break the bank. After reading tons of reviews I decided on the 60d instead of the 7d and I couldn't be happier. As a photo hobbyist I couldn't justify the price tag of the 7d but wanted a lot of what it offered and I got it with the 60d, My only dislike is the articulating screen and no sensor to turn the screen off when you put your eye to the viewfinder.

I have used Canon Powershot cameras for the last 4 or 5 years so I wanted to get into the SLR cameras. I bought a Canon 60D and I really like the features. Still learning all the ins and outs but I'm pretty confident that I can take some great pictures now. This is a great camera. It's a little heavy and somewhat noisy but this is a great product.

This was my 1st DSLR camera. I purchased it at Best Buy in June 2011 along with their 3 year replacement warranty which ended up being very useful. A few of the reasons I chose the camera: 18MP, ability to use both canon lens formats, HD filming, and weight. There is noise at higher ISO's, but from what I understand that is normal at 18MP. I have used the camera for landscape, wildlife (mainly birds), portraiture, macro, and product photography.
This was my 1st DSLR camera. I purchased it at Best Buy in June 2011 along with their 3-year replacement warranty that ended up being very useful. A few of the reasons I chose the camera: 18MP, ability to use both canon lens formats, HD filming, and weight. There is noise at higher ISO's, but from what I understand that is normal at 18MP. I have used the camera for landscape, wildlife (mainly birds), portraiture, macro, and product photography.
Overall I have been happy with the camera. The main problem began in April 2012 when I noticed spots on pictures during post processing of a macro shot of an orchid. I thought the problem was the new macro lens I had just purchased, but I checked the camera with 2 additional lenses and found that the spots where on the sensor. I also went back through months of photos to find the problem actually began in February of that year. The spots were sometimes not as visible as others based on lighting, exposure, f-stop, and subject matter. I realized that numerous times I had cleaned up a photo thinking it was just that one. I could actually pin point exactly when the spots started occurring, which was in the middle of taking over 400 shots with no lens changes. The spots lined up in the exact same place on all photos.
I took the camera into have the sensor cleaned at Best Buy. They sent it to their service center and a few weeks later I had my camera back only to realize the spots where still there. It was sent it back a 2nd time and again the spots where still on the images with new ones in other areas not before affected. After sending the camera back for a 3rd time, Best Buy informed me this week they have “junked” the camera and will replace it or issue a credit for it.
I have found numerous reports on-line of other people with this issue, which seems to be a hit or miss with all brands and models of DSLR cameras. Some type of oil spot that doesn’t always show up at first and once corrected can show up in other areas of the sensor causes the problem.
I have enjoyed learning photography on this camera and will probably get another 60D, but I will make sure it has a replacement warranty again.

I consider myself a "serious amateur" photographer and love to capture youth-sport-action shots. I constantly seek the best shot possible and get a great rush when I capture "the right moment". After a long hiatus from SLRs, I purchased a Rebel XS and was quickly yearning for more capabilities. I compensated for the cameras shortcomings by adding 'low light' lens to my collection but still continued to struggle... I finally decided to take the plunge and purchased an EOS 60D as a replacement. WOW !!! The high burst speed and increased ISO range allows me to capture shots that my old camera never could. I can't wait for my daughters' next dance recital!
