Pros: Fast auto-focus, Superior build quality, excellent sharpness, useful macro mode
Cons: price
I wanted to buy a lens which I can leave on the camera most of the time and capture great images with. The standard zoom lens was missing in my collection as I shoot mostly with primes and a telephoto L zoom lens so I decided to do some research. After deciding that the 2.8ii would be too expensive and the 24-105 being too outdated I then proceeded to look at the 24-70 F4 IS. The new F4 IS seems to fit my needs perfectly - a small but high quality zoom that's built to a high standard along with a useful macro mode. After buying the lens and taking some photos with it in the field I can safely say that this lens delivers in terms of overall color, contrast, sharpness, etc. It is a bit softer wide open at 50mm but it's not a deal breaker and is still highly usable. Recommended without reservations.

I like the lens especially that i shoot landscape (Daytime) and i don't need the F2.8 . It gives very sharp images.

Pros: Fast auto-focus, Superior build quality, Super-sharp images, perfect size
I have five lens for my 6D, but often a photo outing demands choosing one lens. Generally it is this lens for me. I find the sharpness outstanding, and f/4 is adequate for my needs. Of course the macro function is disadvantaged by the limited working distance, but I have been able to work with it very well. The macro image quality is superb, and since I often brace for focal plane stability with an extended finger, the short distance can even be an advantage. As I review my macro images, I have more favorites by my 24-70 than my 100, because I am usually with my 24-70!

Bought this lens to use with EOS 6D. Couldn't be happier. IS and max F/4 aperture keeps less experienced photographers out of trouble. Image quality is first rate. Reasonably light, great vacation lens. Had this lens for a year now, use it as the main lens for my 6D.

Pros: Fast auto-focus, Superior build quality, Super-sharp images, well controlled ca, macro range
I bought this lens as standard zoom for my 7d and I compared it first with my 35mm f/1.4L and my EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6L IS USM. At 35mm the difference in terms of resolution in comparison to the fixed-focus lens at f/5.0 are very low and virtually negligible. The lens is tac sharp even wide open. At 70mm, the 70-300mm lens shows only a marginal advantage. CA is very low. At 24mm, barrel distortion is clearly visible but seems to be normal for this type of lens. This distortion can be corrected during post procession. Over all, this lens meets well the high expectations I had as standard zoom lens for an APS-C sensor camera.
