Pros: good focal range
Cons: Poor build quality
I was hoping for a good all around lens and thought the 28-200mm would be a good fit. For a while it performed well but the more I used it the more the poor build quality became apparent. The front portion of the lens barrel became loose and then the auto focus motor started becoming erratic. When the lens is pointing downward the lens barrel will slide out. Overall I am satisfied with all the other Canon lenses and products I own but totally dissatisfied with this lens.

This is the lens I use for nearly all my shooting- great range and super sharp. Excellent value. I have longer lenses, but whenever possible I use this one. I've enlarged and inspected prints and have never owned a lens this sharp.

Pros: Super-sharp images
Cons: not "entirely" superior build quality
I grabbed this lens for convenience and low price. It has turned into my absolute favorite pieve of glass. The range is essentially everything I need on a daily basis. There are other lenses with a more prestine output, but if your concerned about carrying around a massive monetary investment don't hesitate to grab this lens. Price, while a factor, really doesn't decrease the quality of this lens.

Pros: Fast auto-focus
Cons: heavy
It is one good range which makes a bridge between the telephoto and wideangle shots.
I have this lens for over a year and find this lens pretty handy to pick up any type of snap and in any situation.
