Pros: good battery life, Good Low-Light Performance, Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, durable, Bright LCD, Lightweight/Portable, Simple controls/menu, easy to use
I received this camera from my husband as he was complaining about how I take too many pictures with my 35mm and the cost of processing was getting really high. He thought that going digital was the most economical way to have me still take thousands of pictures and save money also.
I love my canon. I've had this camera since 2003 and take it with me everywhere. It fits comfortably in my purse and I've never had a problem getting replacement batteries for it. Also the battery seems to hold a charge much better than my other digital cameras [There are presently 7 digital cameras in this family - 1 of which is a professional level SLR].
I love the fact that I can utilize either the LCD screen or the eye viewer without having to change settings.
The best part is that my little S230 took pictures at my nieces wedding that rivaled those taken by the photographer with her 35mm and I ended up making CDs of the pictures for members of the family.

Pros: good battery life, Good Low-Light Performance, Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, durable, Bright LCD, Lightweight/Portable, Simple controls/menu, easy to use, easy to fit on your person wherever you are or go
I bought this camera when they first came out. I can't remember exactly when but by reading the other reviews it's hard to imagine it has been seven or so years! Not ONE, not ONE problem whats so ever with this camera. When I bought this camera I was a police officer and I needed/wanted a camera that could be kept on my person or close to me in my vehicle at all times. When needed it was there for FIR's, field interview reports, evidence collection,(could take multiple pictures of the scene and at a later time/location could check them over, zoom in on them, transfer them to a computer, scan them, e-mail them, etc., etc., accidents, the whole job. With the memory card I didn't have to worry about never having enough space or losing that one picture I really needed.
Just recently my battery died and I had no problem getting a replacement battery. To the Northern Michigan reviewer, try BB. I would think the only problem that I've encountered is the old software being used on/with my brand new laptop? Now, I just have to figure what to do or what new canon programs I need to download..

Pros: easy to use, Simple controls/menu, Nice features/settings, Bright LCD, excellent image quality, Good Low-Light Performance, good battery life, durable, quality heft and feel
After reserching I chose the S230 and never regretted it. The camera is now over seven years old, and my only gripe is that I can't seem to buy a replacement battery for it, from Cannon. Serious gripe though, because the camera is no longer servicable without a replacement. I bought a Power Shot A-710 for extra zoom, but for most situations still prefer the old S230.

Best camera ever had. Great pics! It's a great, wonderful, beautiful pictures, easy to use, lightweight, etc, etc. etc. I would buy another one if anything ever happened to this one. I have had it since 2002 and never had any problems.
