Pros: high quality video in good light.
Cons: unreliable, very poor value, low light quality is poor
We have had this camcorder for several years. The speaker quit working. The flip out screen does not invert the picture anymore. The camcorder will not turn on unless it is plugged in to A/C power (the battery is fully charged). Low light capability is very, very poor.
When there is good light, the video quality is high. Motor noise is a bit loud.

Cons: batterys are a bit anemic but ok for normal use
Great Camera. Once you get used to it, the controls aren't too bad. It just takes a few minutes to reacquaint yourself to the controls and options if you don't use it a lot. Easy to hook to the TV to watch the movies. Never really had a chance to hook it to the computer so don't know how well the software worked or if there was any Mac compatible programs or not. We've had the camera for 6 or 7 years now and haven't had a problem yet. Just buy a couple extra battery's if your going to use it all day. It's fine for the school concert and stuff tho.

Cons: Short battery life
It is amazing the many things you can do with this camera. The zoom is awesome in very long distances, the sound and the quality are very good for amateur film makers. When in low light, it works awesome, the picture and images are super clear and crystal clear sounds. When the lights are completely off, still you can record with enough quality to have a nice video. The battery I got is the big one and I go it for cheap online and it last for hours! Many features to play with, super comfortable to handle and not heavy at all. All I can say is that I recommend this camera to whoever would like to have a good camera. If you already have it, just have fun with it like me! Some of this cameras were released with manufacture problems with the focus sensor that blacks out the screen and the cassette playback mode thing that does not allow you to play or record the cassette, but not a problem, as soon as you contact the cannon customer service they tell you what to do and they fix it for free if you are the first to report the problem on the camera, because they only do it once. And if on top of everything you know you ask me if the camera is worthy to buy, of course, it is Canon!
