I have had this printer for 5 years. It still works fine. I use it to print 11x17 newsletters and photo images from 4x6 up to 13x19.
The print quality can be very good. I have concluded that I do not print that often (perhaps a couple dozen prints every two weeks), so with maybe a couple of weeks between use, ink dry occurs in the nozzles. I do get streaks across the photo image on occasion, and have had the printer refuse to print because the ink pad is full.
While I have been successfull in ameliorating these problems, it does take quite an effort. The ink tank holder is costly, but I found a couple extra were needed to have one available when I NEEDED to use the printer and it was giving nozzle problems.
I find the extra effort keeping it functioning well worth the effort, as others have stated the full size prints can be stunning.

Pros: Easy Setup, fast print speed
Cons: Heavy/Bulky, unreliable, High Ink Consumption
Getting good output is so hard, even on 4x6 photo papers. Always showing print stripes. Ink cartridges get emptied so fast.

Pros: durable, Easy Setup, easy to use, fast print speed, Low Ink Consumption, reliable, Sharp Tones & Colors
Cons: it's discontinued:(
It's printed 1000's of photos from 4x6 to 13x19 & 1000's of pages of text & drawings. When it finally dies I'll buy another Canon!
I have owned this printer since April 2004. It was purchased in conjunction with the first digital Rebel (EOS 300D). I continued to use this printer after I upgraded to the Canon 30D I have never had trouble with the printer until last summer I got the ink tank full error message. The printer has been runnung great ever since. Now the printer is not using the yellow ink. So I think a printer that has lasted 5 1/2 years is awesome. I will definitely purchase another Canon pro photo printer.

I've been using my i9100 for two years and have been completely satisfied with it's capabilities. I own a Canon 50 D camera with Canon lenses. The combination of the printer and camera has produced many stunning large format photos.
