Pros: good battery life, quiet, Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, Simple controls/menu, easy to use
Cons: Dim LCD, Difficult to use, Complicated controls/menu
The camera took good pictures. The ease of downloading was good until recent.

The digital rebel was my first slr. As a kid I'd dreamed of shooting a gazillion shots like professional photographers, but my allowance just wouldn't provide that klnd of film & developing. This camera--and digital photography in general--made that dream come true!
Since getting the digital rebel in March 2004, I've learned so much about photography and this camera made it possible! While I have other cameras now, I still use this one to work out shots and sharpen my skills on a regular basis.
It's definitely a keeper!

This was my first digital SLR, and I actually purchased it when I was only 13 years old, it has served me amazingly ever since. I am now a photographer for my school newspaper and I put it to use everyday, it has been wonderful to use, and I'm still unlocking new ideas on how to use it. Someday though, I'm upgrading to the 5D, and will very sadly put this one down. But for now, I love it to no end.

I usually don't write reviews, so this will be short. Basically I bought this camera when it came out - roughly 5 years ago. I've used it nearly every day since then. It's the best money I've ever spent. I've had it serviced once since I bought it. It's 2010 now and it seems like it's hard to even find a point-and-click that's less than 12 megapixels, but this camera's 6 megapixels have served me well for half a decade - professionally and just for fun.

Pros: rock solid build
Cons: no internal sensor cleaning
I've had this camera for over 5 year and I have to say it is one reliable camera. This camera is built very well. It was my first SLR camera and it really helped improve my photography skills. The only thing that really troubled me was keeping the internal sensor clean. So there was always a spec or two showing in my images. I typically would edit them out. I just now upgraded to the T2i and I have to say I'm a little worry the T2i might not be able to take the daily abuse. It feels like it is half the weight of my Digital Rebel. I guess we will have to see. Now if you compare the picture quality of this camera to more modern SLR like the T2i there is just no comparison. It is simply a outdated camera. But that being said, having this camera in the right hands you can still take great pictures.Anyway, if you are looking for good starter slr for a good price this would be the camera to go with.

Pros: Nice features/settings, Quick Start-up time, excellent image quality, Superior build quality, Bright LCD, Solid Operation, Simple controls/menu, easy to use
Cons: noisy
years later this is still a great camera. About to upgrade to the T2i. I will keep this one at my side. Pictures from around the wolrd say its great. Europe, Africa, China, Alasaka to NY to Florida. takes a lickin and keeps on clickin.
Use the web for instructions. They make good cameras, but cant write a manual
I have owned the original (300D) Digital Rebel since September 2003, and I can't say enough good things about it. I have used it for both family shots as well as for astrophotography. With over 6 years of indoor and (extensive) outdoor use, it's still working fine. The image quality is excellent, and I have easily had images enlarged to 11 x14. I cannot complain about the battery life; I keep several batteries charged and available, and this works for me. Based on my experience, I HIGHLY recommend Canon digital SLRs.

Pros: Superior build quality, excellent image quality, Bright LCD, Simple controls/menu, Nice features/settings, quiet, Solid Operation, easy to use
Cons: Slow Start-up time, battery life could be better
I have had the Digital Rebel since it first came out several years ago and have nothing but praise for it. The quality of the pictures is incredible. I have used the camera mostly in the Full Auto mode and it has performed superbly. But every time I have used the various Manual settings it has worked exactly as I wanted. I could not give higher praise for a product. I also have the Rebel 2000 35mm film camera and it's a great combination since all of my lenses are interchangeable. I love the Canon EOS Series whether film or digital format. The digital camera was a little pricey when it first came out but I'm still a very happy camper!

Pros: Superior build quality, excellent image quality, Bright LCD, Simple controls/menu, Nice features/settings, quiet, Solid Operation, easy to use, good battery life
Cons: Heavy/Bulky
I am a semi-pro shooting weddings and graduations. I always used the Rebel EOS with great results. The Rebel EOS Digital is wonderful. Easy to use, takes terrific pictures and I can use all of my old lenses. The only con is that it is big and heavy, but the awsome quality of the pictures makes it so much better than the small lightweight digital cameras. Another con is that you need the Canon software to download pictures, you can't just plug it into any PC, but the software is easily downloadable from the Canon web site. I have the 6mp and it is just perfect. I give Canon two thumbs up.

I have a 35mm Canon Rebel with some extra lenses, so I wanted to get the digital camera so I wouldn't have to buy new lenses. I got it in February of 2005, and never looked back! I have 3 battery packs so I never run out. My two sisters were impressed enough with my camera that that they both bought the digital Rebel. Mine is a 6 megapixel, theirs are each 10 megapixels, but I can't tell the difference in picture quality; perhaps a professional could. The only downside to my camera is not having the picture preview lcd. Maybe I'll upgrade one day! I love this camera!

Pros: Superior build quality, excellent image quality, Bright LCD, Simple controls/menu, Nice features/settings, quiet, Quick Start-up time, Solid Operation, easy to use, Lightweight/Portable, good battery life
Back in 2004 I purchased the Canon Rebel (of course about a week before the xt came out) I must say that this has been one purchase I am overly satisfied with. In the almost 5 years I have had this camera I have had no problems with it other than an occasional auto focus. (The camera will focus on the closest object when the object of my photo will be farther away) This problem is fixed quickly by a flip of a switch to manual focus, then back to auto. I want to thank Canon for bringing the digital slr camera to a price range for the NORMAL camera bug. Since then others have tried to follow but for the price and the quality a Canon product can not be beat. Thank you again Canon
Cons: Slow Start-up time, Short battery life, no b&w shooting mode
I've had this camera since it was new in 03. It takes marvelous photos that are every bit as wonderful and sharp as the more expensive EOS camera for a small fraction of the price. It takes in RAW, and has an impressive host of manual and fully automatic shooting modes. It can accommodate an array of EOS accessories including flashes, remotes and all the EF and EF-S lenses. I still use this camera and still am impressed by the shots it takes.

Cons: Slow Start-up time
I purchased this camera in 2004 and have never regretted it! It has survived lots of outdoor damp photography, snow, searing heat and blistering cold conditions. Never had a problem, never updated firmware and it's worked fine. The image quality is superior to newer Rebels and I've never had a problem with enlargements either. Grab a used one, get yourself some great lenses and this camera will still out-perform most newer entry level DSLR.

i use this all over the world at Iran to Italy it it never broke or messed up my photos its a grate product to buy!!
I all honesty, I heart this camera! I received it as a gift back when it first hit the market back in 2003 I think, and still to this day I have not had a single problem with it. Picture always come out great. Easy to use. Though the MP is not up there with the new and modern it's nothing a little photoshop & a good eye for art couldn't handle. I mean, I wish it was smaller, and bit lighter, but that comes with time, and new advancements.

We purchased this camera in 2003 and have taken in excess of 50 000 pictures with it. Not a single issue to report. We haven't even bothered to update the firmware. Now we are looking for a second one to pass them both on to our kids to learn photography.

We have had this camera since it first hit the market and has been great. Even though the new ones are way smaller, lighter and more MP.. :) It has servered us well. I wanted to write this more so to let all those who may be having trouble with Vista because Canon has NOT release a driver. After a little searching online I found that if you go to menu/4 tab/comminucation and change it to PTP from Normal, Vista picks it right up...I sure do wish Canon offered this info on there drivers page instead of "Vista Drivers Not Available" it would have saved me time, as well as many other I am sure.. Overall thanks for a great product.. I hope this helps someone else.. :)
